Plain Old Telephone Service

My be a daft suggestion, but, certain 4g routers have phone sockets in the rear, MF286D for one I think.

Although, on second thought, it'd have to do volte as most routers drop to 3G to make a call.

Food for thought.

@dazmatic too much work, as you'd have to use a compatible network that's got coverage

Just got an email from Sky that my great-aunts telephone service is going up to £32.49 for Line Rental and Sky Anytime, which I think is an absolute joke! I have been trying to price around and seems impossible to get a telephone only service these days. My aunt is 98 years old and doesn't want internet and uses my email address because she doesn't want one of her own!

Sky are saying this is the most suitable package, but it is obsolete, so can't do any deals on contracting.

Can anyone give any advice? There are cheaper packages with internet included, maybe a switch to those and just ignore the internet side of it?

Here's some news that might be of interest to you. I also have a family member in a similar situation who just wants a analogue POTs line with no internet.

Sorry didn't read all of that - so might have already been suggested. How about a desk / wall phone, that rather than plugs into the a phone line takes a SIM card instead? Connects to the cellular network? Then a SIM with no Data and lots / unlimited minutes and some international minutes if neeed?

Thinking about getting for my home, as I don't have a phone line anymore, but would be good to have for in an emergency?

Sorry for the slight spur,

Does the PSTN stop sell apply to all providers, or are LLU providers exempt?

LLU Can do whatever they want for now. BUT LLU Providers are doing the same. Vodafone and others that use rheir system is full digital voice now for example. I Don't imagine it will be long before they've all made the switch over to VoIP really.
