Plus net forum choked with MAC requests

Wow, the number of posts from people asking, relating or questioning how long their MAC code will be is utterly astonishing. But I spose it could have something to do with terminating accounts of innocent subscribers, more changes in T&C's and many complaints about speed, delay in tickets being answered. Just everything generally falling to pieces.

Not suprised but the more histeria that is whipped up over this the more who will move and later on perhaps regret the move.

Limiting downloads has been coming for over a year now it shouldn't be such a shock.

All ISPs will start to form some plan to best utillise their bandwidth.

Sometimes its better the devil you know.

just over 12months ago others had NTL customers whipped up in a similar fury over a daily 1gig cap, this still hasnt been brought in as a hard cap but I am sure when everything is in place you can be sure they will keep customers to the caps set out for that package.

ADSL will not be that much different the caps will come and some might find themselves on ISPs that will not release MAC codes easily or find themselves tied into longer contracts.

I would say think before you act, think about the service you have had from your ISP, the speeds other ISPs might not reach the same, It has to be whats best for you personally not what others tell you to do. The internet connection is one thing you have total control of if you are not happy due to slow speeds then move on.

MPO is everyone should look at their standard of service if its been good why risk ending up on an ISP where its bad.

As one who is off to pastures new after 3 years on +net I can assure you Kits it is not a decision taken lightly.

The constant changing of T&C's is just one problem, the lies, deceit and outright spin over the last 6 months have been appalling.
As for a cpped service, that is understandable and I have no problem with that, but +net have changed the rules on this so many times recently and brought them in through the backdoor that they can no longer be considered as acustomer based isp.

The bead counters at +net have the last say, and they only consider the shareholders, customers now come last.

But good luck to all who stay, matbe they will learn something, but I doubt it.

I for one will NOT be moving at the moment. For 14,99 i get a decent service (yeh i dont download that much, about 5gb a month) but can't moan.

Reset I know its tougher when a company has shareholders we have been fighting that with NTL for years. But I feel I would not have as good a connection on ADSL as I have on cable due to distance from the exchange. In your case the speeds are what counts you could still get the same upto speed but on speed tests would you have the same we notice from ADSLguide that some ISPs do have faster speeds for say the 512K packages, some give 24/7 support others is monday to friday.

good luck on your next choice of ISP

I think the problem here (and by here I don't single out Plusnet, but ISP's in general) is that of perceived value. Do you perceive that what you get for your money is good value? If so then there is no cause to move or complain.

However, I think what upsets people more than anything is that sign up for one thing, then later have the goalposts moved (sometimes sneakily) and find the service is not what they originally required. And they are still paying the same for it.

To use an analogy, suppose you went to a local garage and filled up your car week in and week out for say, £40. Then one day you were told that you could only half fill your tank, but it would still cost you £40. Would you be happy? Would you still go to the same garage?

ISP's seem bent on doling out the electronic equivalent of food-rationing. Should they be surprised when starving customers choose to go elsewhere?

Agreed, I have said in another thread that they shouldnt be applying this to existing packages, only new ones. The widely known and advertised bonus of ADSL is 'an always on connection'. If plusnet are changing this, albeit in apperent benefit to customers (what exactly, lower prices? higher speeds?), then the least they can do is not impose it on current subscribers.

Plusnet have not actually detailed why they are doing this. They say they have plenty of capacity, so no problem there. Are they making a loss then? If not, where is the benefit to customers by doing this. I have yet to see price reductions or the like.

Id like a plusnet rep to comment, but thats me being a tad hopeful.

Plusnet is my top mark

Most customers might be unhappy or moaned about the way that plusnet had changed their T & C again.

But, I still given plusnet the top mark for their excellent cheaper broadband up to 2 megabit is a great bargain at £14.99. I will not be leaving this isp because many other isp's doesn't come cheaper or match with plusnet 2 megabit at under £15 a month.

I had no complaints as I give plusnet my full support for great honest customer service to me over the year.

The good thing about ISPreview and other such sites, is that we can hear from others who use a service, I went to PN after reading many posts here on ISPr. They were right it was good. Too many people at present are fed up with no answers, smoke and mirror tactics, changing their minds on FUP on T&C's, now threatening to stop some ADSL acccounts being always on. And the way two people who asked questions have been treated. PN said they took up too much of staff time, but read how much of staff time is now taken up with them and other issues on AG. The whole things is a fiasco and before long I am going too. I will read carefully others opinions of a prospective new service.

For too many people, on PN, enough is enough. They are as bad as V21 were when I left or F***24 and you, Kits, had to moderate hard in those days when those ISP's took bad downward turns. I gave you a bad time sometimes, but some things had to be said about them and I believe have to be said about PN today, whatever some of its "happy customers" want you to believe.
