Plusnet have stolen my line

We have a children's nursery and plusnet have stolen (slammed) our phone line.
They even admitted it to start with but now are denying it.
Ofcom are involved but need 4 working days to look into the matter, the number could be passed on by then if we had more than 10 employee's they would not have helped so if we had 11 then we would have take the solicitor route we will still do that but that is wrong, plusnet can be fined 10% of their turnover, but we have no phone or internet we could easily lose the number that the business has had for 30 years.
We are looking at £1000's for new signs and paperwork, that is before we look at the lost business.
XLN are trying to get the line back but it could be weeks and plusnet are resisting by saying, "not us". YES YOU

XLN are the contracted party and are responsible for restoring service.

They are in breach of contract.

If the account is a business account then you could refer to their SLA. If it is not a business account but is being used for business purposes then the maximum claim would be that for a residential service e.g. not very much.

What PlusNet have done might be the crux of the issue, but they are irrelevant as regards resolution and compensation.

Suggest you give XLN a deadline to work to e.g. you want all service fully restored and back the way it was before, by end Tuesday latest. Put everything in writing. And check that you don't then get put onto a "new contract".

Yes XLN are trying to get it back and yes it is business.
plusnet took the line without permission from us or XLN, are trying but plusnet are refusing to even acknowledge they have the line now XLN cannot say plusnet have the line but yesterday they (plusnet) checked the line on their system.

"Slammed" is when you are transferred to a different provider without your knowledge or permission.

From what you are saying it sounds more likely that a contractor/BTOR engineer working at your local cabinet has mistaken your line for a spare unused one, and hooked it up to a different address.

If you dial your old number from another phone - what happens??

Plusnet are part of BT, and use BT lines, so it would have been the BT checking system they used - not their own. BT are supposed to have a provision to restore lines to the original holder if they are notified within a certain time limit of the above happening.

Hi,

There's not much more I can add to this conversation that we haven't already discussed in your similar posts elsewhere.

As mentioned previously, you'll need to speak to XLN regarding the line that should be with them.
