Plusnet in contract upgrade to fttp

Hi. So at my prompting my auntie has just upgraded her adsl connection to fttp as her premises are now showing as available on the checker. She was already in contract to Plusnet untill aug next year so had little choice here. They uphold her just a bit as she currently can only get 10mbps and now she will get 500mpbs for 29.99 which is the standard price as advertised on their website.
Interesting re the landline is that I'd thought it would go as Plusnet don't do landlines anymore. However they have offered her £5 a month for inbound calls only. Not sure if this is restricted or how it's delivered as in keeping the copper line or via the new router. They also told her it will be supplied by BT. Anyone heard of this arrangement and how it's delivered?
To be honest this does suit her as she was going to move to her mobile full time but allows people with her landline number still able to call. If she was out of contract then I'd have suggested Vodafone as they provide an inbound landline at no extra cost and can port the number.

The phone offer is jolly odd. Plusnet don’t do phones on FTTP. I wonder if it’s BT (Plusnet would allow an upgrade to BT within contract).

So they found a way to keep charging line rental then?
"Line rental" isn't fundamentally to do with voice service. It's just a legacy way of charging.

You used to be able to have one bill for (the copper line with voice service) and another bill for (broadband add-on, which uses the same copper line)

Now you pay for (the copper line with broadband), and if you want voice you pay for (voice add-on, which uses the broadband).

The difference is whether the line is considered to be primarily voice, or primarily broadband. Either way, the copper line has to be paid for.

Plusnet dont charge line rental for FTTP, so the migration to FTTP should have removed it of the bill, but from the OP reported, it looks like they see that part of the contract as something to be maintained on the migration, albeit with a discount for inbound calls.
