plusnet , no broadband but you can pay anyway HELP ADVICE PLEASE

I am having exactly the same problem with PlusNet since a speed upgrade. Why should I have to pay for an extra modem, simply to ensure BT are fulfilling their contractual obligations to PlusNet?

I have had a similar incident with plusnet... and its really been getting me down. Im so glad to have found this forum and discovered im not the only one. It was due to this forum that I used them in the first place.

After two months of running round the houses I have decided to leave the service. I've been paying them money for a service that I cannot recieve unless I have the phoneline open whilst on the net. I havent managed to prise a modem from a friend to test.

THe customer service people only replied with urgency when I became highly abusive. Funny that.

The conclusion was that the modem was faulty but its tough, its a year old.. "stick it" was the reply.

I'm returning to BT. Which is annoying, but Plusnet have forced me no other option where I dont have the joy of cable (i live largely in the sticks) just adsl.512k at best!!!

If anyone wants to set up a 'PLUSNET are rubbish' website then Id be willing. I hope they realise that treating people this way just isnt acceptable.

Totally narked and depressed that I cant have access to the internet until they shut their connection off, which is now not until at least december. Funny that I cancelled it in mid october and the month notice means its early december...

I hate them and the nightmare isnt going to end just yet..

I have been a Plusnet user for two + years now and I have been happy with the service. I did however have frustrating initial issues when starting up on the ISP service. I had a new 3ghz pc and when I connected using the free PlusNet USB modem, it would only stay connected for a few seconds then drop me out which was very frustrating. This went on for a week with lots of calls to PlusNet support who talked me through various tests (filter changes, direct phone wire to the master phone socket etc but nothing worked). PlusNet support were at a loss as to what could be causing the issue other than a harware issue. I then checked some forum sites online and found that USB modems could cause problems if the PC used a VIA chipset (which mine had). I went to the local computer fair and spoke to some of the (expert) stallholders. They also knew of the VIA chipset / USB modem issue and suggested that I switch to an internal modem (PCI). I bought one and plugged it in and switched on the PC and had no more dropout issues.

I have used that modem / PC for at least two years now on PlusNet and have been happy with the service. The only issue that I have had since have been down to BT accidentally damaging the line when fixing a neighbour's phone. Hope this helps someone :-)
