Possible new CF customer

A relative was in a similar situation when CF cables were being pulled in his area and BT contract was ending. He ordered the Three 5G Home Broadband on a monthly contract, cancelled BT and within 2 months was able to order CF.

Sadly Three 5G Home Broadband not available here yet, but would have been a good option.

For me, it was 3 hours between the blokes fitting the AFN to the top of the pole and the service being live to order!
Moving the AFN to the top of the pole is the last step of the commissioning process and you can order pretty soon after depending on how quickly they update their system.

For me it’s been nearly a year since cityfibre laid the cabkes and they still haven’t gone live 😔. The road right next to mine has been live since the start of this year.

Oh dear - not good. City Fibre or Community Fibre?

same for me...it was a month between guys pulling the fibre through the ducts on my street under the pavements and up the telephone pole to being able to order the service
Yep - was about a month for me too. Although the pole down the road got activated about 2 weeks before me so that was a little frustrating but I'm all up and running now!

About a fortnight ago, a trench was dug and filled in between the corner of our block and a manhole on the footpath.

Kept an eye on my inbox.

This morning, I got an email saying that it was ready to go.

Signed up. Engineer booked for August 7th.

The installation went okay yesterday. Just over 150 Mbps up and down with Speedtest on my Moto G50, plenty for me and SWMBO (y).

If all goes well, CF stays and it's bye, bye, Plusnet in a couple of months.

Since I am no longer a Possible New CF Customer, I guess this thread probably ends here :).

Another Altnet success story. It’s going to be hard for the regular ISPs to regain customers such as yours once they experience the cheap service Altnets can give. Best of all it’s a true alternative network which should provide some resilience should something happen to the big ISPs. I remember how a few years ago VM was down in our street and no one had internet as pretty much everyone was with VM as BT/Openreach speeds were crap. Now we are spoiled with choice as Openreach upgraded to FTTP, VM is 1Gb cable and we have Community Fibre as well! 3 different networks which give us true competition!!!
