Price dropped on EE 5G SA upgrade plan

Due for a renewal soon and saw these 2 5G SA plans popped up on my upgrade page. Seems like a good deal considering it's an unlimited data plan, comes with watch data, EU roaming and a perk?

EE All Rounder.webp

Does seem less expensive than before, as always on these things, comes down to if either you value the assurance you can use what you want even if you dont, or you are a pretty heavy user of data, or make use of any of its built in extras.

In my wife’s account I can see the all rounder for iPhone at £27. She is on 16GB for £9, contract expiry in January.

I see £30 for the all rounder on my account. I love the EE random number generator.

I'm not surprised that prices are dropping. No one's going to go to EE / or an expensive plan just for standalone. Arguably it's more of a benefit to the network operator so it is ridiculous that they're attempting to charge for it at all, it would make more sense to just allow any compatible device, in an enabled area to use it.

Hard sell when loads of people turn 5G off anyways for "battery saving"

Do they? 5G especially SA is more efficient and phones are smart enough to manage connections more efficiently than they used to be.
Oh I know that, I meant more anecdotally. There are so many people I know or have seen disabled it. It's a common battery saving technique on forums, Reddit, SEO spam sites.

If you switch on battery saver then 5G gets disabled, so that's pretty much the mainstream feeling.

I'm another person who does this. 5G absolutely sodomises my iPhone 13 Mini's battery. Even in 5G Auto mode rather than forced to always on, my power consumption shoots up and can't even get close to a day of use. In 4G Mode I can get about a day and a half with my usage.

For the most part, the only time I enable 5G is if I have it plugged in and am using it to broadcast a WiFi hotspot for my laptop.

I'd be quite interested in this, as i pay for Apple music through EE anyway, it would be in effect unlimited data with 5G SA for £14 a month.

Yeah I have a 15 Pro as my personal device and I only turn 5G on when I need it. Even in auto mode it kills the battery, although SA is better.

To be honest I just find the battery life of iPhones disappointing in general. I always expect it to be better but it isn't. The standby time also I am sure is less good than it used to be years ago.

Indeed - EU roaming with generous FUP (£25/30days or £2.47/day), Watch data (£7/month) and Apple Music (£11.99/month)

I agree, really tempted to get an S24 Ultra next.

I bought an A25 5G for some SA testing on O2 and it absolutely blows my 13 Pro away on battery life. It will run CellMapper all day and still have plenty of life left in it.

I can just about get a day out of my 13 Pro on 92% health running iOS 18.1.
