Price dropped on EE 5G SA upgrade plan

I bought an A25 5G for some SA testing on O2 and it absolutely blows my 13 Pro away on battery life. It will run CellMapper all day and still have plenty of life left in it.

I can just about get a day out of my 13 Pro on 92% health running iOS 18.1.
I never ever turn off 5G, and on my many treks my A55's have never ran out of battery.

I do turn off WiFi though, because I never need it when out and about.

One phone is always about 10% lower than the other because of me streaming Spotify and it's also connected to my Galaxy watch.

Lowest I've reached when arriving home around 6.00pm is around 8% and that's with Cellmapper and Netmonster running continuously, and that is departing at 6.15 am I might add.

It has the same size of battery as the S24U. (5000 mAh)

Not bad at all for a £250 phone. (y) 😊

My A25 feels like it’s solar powered compared to the iPhone!

I turn WiFi off but always leave 5G on. Bluetooth is on at all times. It runs exactly the same apps (minus Netmonster and CellMapper) as my iPhone and the iPhone will die hours before the Samsung.

The mid range chipset will likely use less power as well, how is the device performance? i have heard mixed reviews although the A15 i had for cellmapping was more than fine for the day to day tasks.

I've not any issues with battery life on my A55 , I've recently had it down to 8% after coming home but saying that I did use it quite often that day 9h screen on .

I’m using an iPhone 16 PM Vodafone 5G (SA) and EE 4G. I normally manage about 7 hours on-screen time with 40-50% battery remaining.

S24U Three 4G and O2 5G (SA) but very weak about 2 hours screen time with 80% remaining a day.

Samsung’s definitely better but I’m too far in the Apple Ecosystem to switch over. Plus work won’t let me BYOD with an Android device without loads of restrictions. So

I don't like running it as a daily. It's quite laggy compared to my iPhone. It get's in a bit of muddle when various apps are open. It's great for CellMapping though.

All rounder is £42 here, EE are VM, different prices for different people.

Unlimited essentials costs more than the OP's unlimited all rounder at £27.

I have just done a complaint as well, they spamming me like crazy again, even though I have marketing off, and trying really hard to get me to sign up to VDSL, at least make the effort and deploy FTTP idiots. What makes them think VDSL is competitive in 2024 I dont know.

They’re on a big broadband push it seems.

They asked me twice yesterday who my broadband was with. Both times I said Virgin and the deal they wouldn’t be able to get anywhere near.

Well I just filled in a form for the marketing spam now, and thats on top of the email complaint to their executive team. I probably will report to Ofcom as well, as I think thats anti consumer, there is a thread on their community as well about STOP to 2040 being ignored, so I am not the only one.

If you switch on battery saver then 5G gets disabled, so that's pretty much the mainstream feeling.
On Samsung, they changed it with the newer updates so that it doesn't disable 5G. With older versions, you have to untick the option in the power saving menu.

I upgraded to that package, and thanks to me '£20' discount it comes down to '£22' so very little difference (I have EE broadband, and was already on the £13 package, and paying for google 2TB separately, so it ended up being hardly any more)

Was your £13 package Uncapped speed? Tbh for the deal came down to EU roaming (generous EU roaming data), Apple Music and Watch data. Other EE based MVNOs charge £25 for unlimited data anyway with limited EU roaming data and no perks.

No, it was 100 Mbps. But that was enough for me (10 Mbps felt too limiting). So the speed limit removal was nice, but not really a big deal. The hope with 5g sa was escaping congestion.

I leave it on but it's definitely noticeable how much worse mobile data is vs wifi for battery. The Pixel series are known for subpar modems though.
Indeed 5G kills the battery on my P9PXL and my previous Pixel phones, patiently waiting for the TSMC change next year. Samsung Exynos no more :)

I'll probably hold out this time. The pixel 9 pro XL battery is improved enough that the 5g battery is adequate. (It wasn't before)

Honestly in terms of battery I can quite easily kill my S24 Ultra in a day. My iPhone 15 was better for battery - BUT I am absolutely ragging the balls off the battery on this thing.

Dual SIM 5G (Three/EE)
WiFi 7 @ 6GHz
Always on display (full wallpaper)
Bluetooth connected 24/7 to my watch, and also very often my Galaxy buds
120Hz 1440p

And with my usage, it's impressive it even makes it to dinner lol.

You're a cruel monster Bubbles!

Question about the SA tariffs, well more about the "network boost" has anyone had experience an area with NSA or 4G only where they experience a better service now since having "network boost" enabled.

Reason i ask ... I was in shrewsbury at the weekend and the speeds were non-existent in the Darwin shopping centre, despite having 3 bars of 5G (didn't check which band), would the "network boost" helped me in this situation?
