Problems with Demon, looking to switch

I've been with Demon about a year now and after a very problematic setup dealing with abysmal support its been quite a reliable service. The problem I am having now is that the supposedly 'unlimited' service has a fixed cap at 50gb over the last 30 days (in my opinion stating it is unlimited and imposing a fixed cap should be illegal) and this limit is not quite high enough for my current usage. I'm therefore looking to switch ISPs.
From my brief look at the forums and the top rated ISPs it seems as though you either pay a fortune for a set cap that is reasonably high and excellent customer support or you pay a low price for an 'unlimited' package with a dubious FUP and very poor customer support. What I'm looking for I suppose is somewhere in between. I can deal with rubbish customer support, and once a connection is set up then it's probably going to be pretty stable from there on and you won't need to deal with customer support. What I want is a reliable connection (but I don't mind the odd disconnection here and there) with a high usage limit at a low price (although I suppose this is what everyone wants). Tiscali's offering on face value does not appear too bad - cheap price 'Unlimited', but heavy use customers share bandwidth during peak hours. Fair enough, better than 128kbps all the time (as with demon).
I'm asking for any advice here on which direction to go. I've seen all the tales of woe on this forum, but of course there are going to be some bad cases and of course they are all going to get posted here, so I think basing my view of an ISP on what I've read in the last half an hour would not be fair. Any suggestions?

The word unlimited when used in context with BB these days means unlimited time not downloads.
Depending on what you use per month will govern which ISP you haed for.
First you need to see if BE has unbundled your exchange if thye have most seem to like them otherwise it is an entanet supplied ISP which has peak and offpeak caps which gives a generous amount of download and upload.

I would have to point you to a few ISPs then you will have to research and decide where you wish to move to. The ones I would recomend are Fast.co.uk, Aquiss.net, Zen and Ident.

Hmm, it seems Be will be upgrading our exchange shortly. I really did not expect that living in a rural area which was one of the latest to get basic adsl. I will likely go with them when they do, the packages they offer are very reasonable.

What do you mean by unlimited time?
