Problems with Orange Home but not on Orange Business

Hi All

We use Citrix as our remote access solution. I use Orange Business Broadband at home and it works fine for me.

A number of our users use Orange Home Broadband. They are on the same exchange and live only a few hundred meters down the road from me. They are unable to use Citrix.

They can logon to the secure portal, however as soon as the Citrix session tries to initialise it either fails or is very slow.

It uses port 443 and normally works fine, even on a 56K modem.

Does anyone know if Orange uses any packet shaping technologies for their home users?

Thanks

Tom

This is something you should ask Orange about directly, although it may just be that Orange's Home Broadband services still suffer from performance problems. It could also be a factor with their method of connection and whether or not that port needs to be catered for specifically on Orange's router.

It's not uncommon for unusual ports to be blocked or restricted by default so if they have Orange's router (i.e. Livebox) then you should probably suggest that they adjust its firewall to make allowances for that and or setup some port forwarding.

There is no difference between Orange's Businesss broadband and Domestic broadband. It still routes in the same way. It could possibly be that they are connecting to different servers, one of which has a bit of a problem?
