Ps3

I walked into my local game shop today and there was a small pile of ps3's tucked away in the corner. I was utterly surprised when I saw this, not only because Playstations the biggest console name ever, but also because apparantly those were still leftovers from the first delivery, and also the fact that I completely forgot that it was released a few days ago despite me being a PS2 fanboy (I must have around 50 games tucked away somewhere).

I then heard someone ask if there were any Wii's in stock and apparantly they were sold out. A bit telling really.

Despite being a few months delayed i still think the launch lineup is not that impressive (altho not as bad as the PS2's). altho the demo pod of MotorStorm was cool. Nothing as epic as Zelda twilight princess anyway. Give it a year I guess.

Suffice to say I wont be getting one now (especially at 400 pounds) but may reconsider when I go to uni.

Does anyone else own a PS3 and what do they think of it? Whats the online component like?

I think sony dropped it with the PS3. Not only does it have less than impressive stats compared to the 360, its massively overpriced.

And they no longer have sole rights to the GTA series, no 4 is due out on the 360 at the same time (if not sooner).

The 360 on the other hand, is pretty impressive. And the wii is just one of the most simplest, fun consoles about. Thing is, *everyone* plays the wii.

Theres a few people that buy every console out where I work, but they are not even planning to get a PS3.

Interesting Mel, but Im saving for a house at the moment. Its not so much the console, its the games that hurt the pocket!

while l agree the PS3 is massively over priced, from what l hear this console is supposed to set the standard for the next few years, its also been built more as a media centre that a console from what l hear as well, l will be getting one however l do plan to wait a while until they come down in price (lm poor you see LOL)

My sister picked hers up yesterday, nice bit of kit but cant tell any difference over the 360.

Maybe people are getting wise to paying the top price, when they can get it for up to a third less in a few months time, it's happened with every console released so far.

The PS2 was released at £299, within 10 months, it had dropped to £199.

Still comes out as £5.00 in the shopping cart when I just tried it

Xbox 36 Halo 3 HC
x1 £5.00

I didn't bother to go through with the order

I got a mispriced mobile + free hifi a few years ago from Woolies for £30 (supposed to be £100 or so), only got £15 for the hifi though and the mobile is still locked to O2 - and not an easy phone to unlock.

Yeah the PS3 might be over priced but for a blu-ray player alone thats £500+ the 360 is good but it should of had the hd-dvd player built in not as a seperate so most games on the 360 are online the PS3 some are and some are play alone the PS3 is compatable with the PS2 and PS1 but the 360 if u have the old xbox games and u play them on a lcd or plasma screen u need to fiddle about with the screen settings. Blu-ray has alot more films to it than HD-dvd.

I'm quite happy with my PSP - I can play it while the missus watchs whichever home improvement/purchase/decoration program that is on at the time (and with Freeview, there is always one on).

If I was to buy a console now it would be the Wii, but I love the GTA games, so I may end up getting a console later on....Xbox or PS3 though.....dunno.

Probably the Xbox since its cheaper, despite me being a former PS2 addict.

give it 2 years or so then you will see that PS3 will beat 360 hands down theres many years left in both consoles but PS3 will come out on top i think

i bought a PS2 when they first come out around £400 if i remember and i thought the game bouncer was the best thing i had seen for years lol

time will tell

some papers have reported today that some inside info within the games world ....the hotest news is a ps4 ( working title) or updated ps3 is due for nextyear with built in tv tuner and harddisk for digital recording.......... sony deny rumours but watch this space

Does anyone else have issues with overheating?

As the transformer is inside the PS3 rather than near the plug on the XBox that must be the big reason.

Mine sounds like it could take off when I close the door on the cabinet that it’s stored in even though it’s very well ventilated.

I’ve seen USB fans that fit on the front to boost cooling but Im not sold on that idea.

Anyone else had any experience?
