quad registry cleaner

I had trouble getting this thing to open in Opera and IE. It doesn't bode well for the software does it?

Does anyone know what HijackThis does to the code you ask it to delete? It suddenly occurred to me why the other computer I have isn't able to go online.

BT filled the IE browser with such a lot of muck I cleaned it all out. I must have got rid of the baby with the bath water.

What the hell does that damned ISP think it is doing with their stupid additives? It wouldn't be so bad if their place in the market wasn't so pernicious that they catch all the know nothings as they step into the water.

I didn't have a clue what I was disposing of. Look up this crapware:
iexplore.exe Error “0 × 62304390″

looks like one of those fakeware programs to me on the end of that link..

as for hijackthis, its a damn useful program "IF" you know what you are doing... you found out the hard way that removing everything can cause issues, which lm pretty sure only a re-install will fix, you see that tool is specifically designed to remove crap however you have to know whats ok and what isnt, its also useful for removing browser toolbars and remnants of spyware infections and such.. its one of those great tools but, its worth generating logs to share with peeps on forums who have a little more knowhow that can tell you what you can remove without harming the systems stability and usability.

I am pretty ham fisted when it comes to computers and far from adept with HijackThis but it is a pretty simple tool to spot browser helper objectionables.

Just follow the line and look for respected names and leave them in place. Everything that stinks of Yahoo gets binned.

There was nothing on the file names I deleted to indicate they were crucial.
All the more reason to beware of BT.

I have been sent some CDs to help me repair my PCs so I will let you know how I get on. I had the same problem on this one I put down to a USB hub problem.

So I did a complete reinstall but with an old version of Windows. (XP SP 0.)

And I need to flash the BIOS but so far it falls over. Maybe I am jumping too many BIOS upgrades.

I think if you remove HjT root and branch then reinstall both HjT and BT's disc, you can get over the problem. The obvious course is to do a reversal of what you removed in HjT.

But if you got rid of other nasties with it....
