Luckily I haven't updated, thanks for the heads up....Three pushed a firmware update last night. Requires a Three SIM to receive it just to let the folks using the Y5 know. Only thing I can see is Roaming has been added. Prob stability improvements mostly.

Yeah I agree, im working on a way to try and get around it. I think I have figured out what they have done. I dont think its that the APN is locked. I think its IP Passthrough thats broken if its not a public IP. It forces the device to just constantly connect and reconnect. So in my case im using EE (primarily) and as you guys prob know its CG-NAT. It looks like this latest update has broken that somehow. Im trying to find a way to get around it/revert the update. I would avoid the update at all costs unless your using the three sim.Seems a bit illogical to effectively lock it to the Three APN, even if you were to put in a different SIM card you're still obligated to pay the Three contract
If anything Three should be laughing as you're paying them money while not using their network
Must be taking its time to get to all routers, mine has been online and connected to my VPN for around 50hrs without disconnecting (I'm assuming any upgrade would reboot the modem).Three pushed a firmware update last night. Its three proprietary, so can only be gotten by taking out a three home broadband contract, they are proving popular because for some reason they seem to offer better speeds for most people and have a lot of unlocked features built in like band and cell locking and they come unlocked and are also fairly future proof with a lot of band support. Maybe once they have been out for a while you will be able to get one from ebay second hand but for now seems to be just from Three directly on contract. How do you get hold of one of these routers?
Depends what model you order. If you specifically ask for the outdoor router that’s what you’ll get. If you order an indoor one you’ll get a ZTE MC888 at present. So are they being shipped by default or do you have to ask Three specifically for that router?
My 24 month contract was ending now, but you have to cancel, otherwise it's gonna stay a rolling contract until they put the price up and canel you.To get Vodafone / voxi to work you need to change the apn info with the three sim card inserted and then save and put voxi sim in.
Great router, shame you can't get it without signing up for a 24 month contract (I.e not ever owning it)

My friend has this but some files won’t download for him.Hey all, (long time lurker - first time poster)
I currently own a ZTE MC7010 and a Huawei CPE Pro WIN. I managed to get a hold of the new outdoor hub from Three which is a custom device made by American firm Greenpacketdevice. The model is Y5-210MU.
This device is actually very good, I have tested it for 48 hours now and had consistently better speeds on both Three and EE than i was getting on either the 7010 or the WIN. The firmware on the Y5 has band locking and cell locking built in so no need for scripts to unlock that functionality. Im not sure what the antenna gain is on the Y5 but im gonna say its higher than the 9dBi on the 7010 given the signal improvements im experiencing.
I am not sure if 5CA is supported as ive yet to see it lock onto more than 4 bands at once. Where as on the 7010 i was consistently getting 5CA albeit one of those was Band 20 which is pretty useless anyways.
There is only mid band 5G in my area so I have no way of testing any high bands like n77 or n78. The only options for me here are N1, N7 or N28. N7 is always the fastest for me so i tend to lock on to that and get a solid 300+ on EE with an SINR of 26dB.
Anyways I just wanted to briefly share my experience with the new piece of kit and give it a thumbs up its definitely going to be my new primary CPE. It performs substantially better than either of the two I have used previously and the firmware is unlocked with a lot of options.
Hope this helps for anybody interested![]()
No user guide unfortunately. My friend has this but some files won’t download for him.
I suspect it needs moving to ipv4 only and 3internet apn.
Also needs adult content removing.
Is there a user guide out?
Talked my friend through it and it only gave IP and IP4v6 as they were having issues downloading work files. Set to IP and seemed to work fine.No user guide unfortunately.
But you can modify the single allowed APN to IPV4 only. Adult content is controlled at the carrier level and has nothing to do with the CPE. He would need to contact the carrier to have that removed.
Yeah you need to be logged in as admin, then its the networking tab on the left. You will see Cell Selection and Lock Band.@deedscali1401 I'm using software version 130.00100.113.018 and can't see band locking, any ideas?
Ta, managed to get into admin.Yeah you need to be logged in as admin, then its the networking tab on the left. You will see Cell Selection and Lock Band.
Also dont put a three sim card in you have the unlocked factory firmware there. 018 is the one you want, if you put a three sim in it will update to 024 and that is the one that is locked down.
130.00100.113.018 (FACTORY OPEN)
130.00100.113.024 (LOCKED DOWN)
Ive got an exchange tomorrow with Three to get rid of this 024 unit I have and get a factory one again...thank god it was withing the first 30 days.
That shouldnt be happening because you have the firmware people need/want.Ta, managed to get into admin.
What I still haven't figured out is APNs...
I've tried EE and VF, neither work. When I insert a Three SIM it works, even with an EE or VF APN displayed.
Am I missing something?
