Hi All,
I've been a long-time reader of this forum and found some great information on here, so I thought it was about time I helped the community by providing a bit of info on my recent Quickline FTTP install that was done this week as well as providing some information that I found hard/couldn't to find.
Installation
I've had the new FTTP connection in now (200Mbps symmetric) for a couple of days and other than some very early teething issues (which I'll touch on in sec) it was no hassle at all. At the time of ordering (early Oct 2025) they had two offers, 50% off for 2 years or "free until you're free" (i.e. free until your current contract finishes then fuill price for the remainder of the 2 year contract) - I went for the latter given I had 16 months left on my FTTC connection.
It was two weeks from order to installation, about a week before installation day, a team came round and ran the fibre from the pole (over the road) to a point on the brickwork outside. They asked where I was likely to want the ONT and run it to just outside. On the installation day, another team came round to to fit the ONT and junction box outside - again asking where I'd want them. The installation job was very neat (even got approval from the SO!) and they set up everything including the router so it was just connect and use. The router they provided was a Zyxel EX5601-T0, seems like a decent unit from the couple of hours I spent playing with it
The only issue I had was immediately after the install, I was only getting ~500kbps download but full (200Mbps) upload. After a power cycle of the Adtran branded ONT, it reconnected no problem at full speed (about 10% faster actually!) and has been stable since.
Own Router - settings and issue
After a day of using the Zyxel router, I decided it was time to move my network from the FTTC connection (which I still have given the "free until free" offer) to the Quickline connection, so replacing the router with my Netgear RAX120. I'm lucky enough to have Cat6a wired around the house so it was a matter of moving a few cables and updating the settings in my Netgear whilst keeping everything live.
After reading this post (https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/finally-fibre-is-coming.38702/post-328231) I was hoping it would be as easy as updating the PPPoE settings and off it'd go - unfortunately it required more tinkering than that! The PPPoE username and password can be found by logging in to the admin page of the Zyxel router and copying them from there.
After an hour and a restart of the router and ONT, it was clear that more settings needed to be changed. I've taken a screenshot of the settings from the the Zyxel and attached here for reference. In the end, I found I had to apply the following settings for the Netgear router to connect;
This seems to work really. The only minor issue is that I seem to to have lost some upload speed (which varies between 70 and 170 Mbps on the Netgear whilst it was constantly >200 on the Zyxel) - download speeds are unaffected. I'll have another tinker with the settings when I hear back from Quickline or if anyone on theis forum has any ideas.
Hopefully this'll be useful for someone looking at Quickline FTTP; happy to help if there's any questions.
Cheers

- Update the PPPoE Username & Password
- MTU - I didn't need to change this as mine was already set to 1492.
- Enable IPv6 using the same settings as IPv4 (i.e. item 1)
- Enable VLAN (my Netgear's Vlan page doesn't seem to break out between 802.1p and 802.1q but just enabling it seemed to work)
