Quik 128K Quandry!

Well I'm glad that JonR is happy so far... I was too for the first few days. Despite moaning to a usually responsive Quik, I am lucky if I connect after 18:00 Mon-Fri  . In the mornings until 08:00 the service is also becoming unreliable :( , however, oddly, on the weekends, service is good  , though not perfect.

I am assuming that this is a sign that this service is designed more for businesses and the fact that after 18:00 many of them are still logged on making it hard to to connect during the week after this time. Quik's technical manager wrote to me on 25 Sep "...As for service improvements, I'm not sure what I can say to that - I'm the technical manager here at Quik and I can tell you our support team has taken less than 10 support calls in the past two days, that isn't meant as a boast but its a good indication of how well our service is operating for most of our users.

However, I'm not keen on any users leaving the service, if the service can operate well for 99% of our users then I see no reason why we can't get it working for all users! I'll be speaking with our telco (suppliers) today to see if we can trace any faults on your connection attempts.
I haven't heard from them since and the problems persist .

Whilst I don't think there is a problem on my end, no explanation has been given why can always log in via one channel, however, problems only happen when I dual bond (especially at authentication stage) - I am an XP user and if any one has ideas here I would be grateful for the input.

Like JonR, I am paying for another service (Freeserve, who for me are very reliable), however, I am not prepared to pay almost £32 monthly for both ISPs for much longer... I'll just keep on campaigning for ADSL

i seem to have the same prob when i was with them

i think they are more business orientated then for home users

i have found my 128k isp and well they not really know.............but the service is brill

Hi Lemzip

Who is this new 128k lemzip?, because of all the problems with 123ISP and Vispa, I was froced to cancel, Looked at 'Quick' but decided against them, I am now joined PIPEX, excellent backbone, occasional problem during business hours otherwise very good.

But I am paying nearly double that of one of these Hippo monster's and Vispa Vespa' so makes you think, are people in this to screw peeps out of money (money laundering ?) :( or operate a business on behalf of itself and it's customers consequently making a reasonable 'profit'?.

Find a company with the 2nd notion, pay a bit more for the product and you get what you need and want.

Well i must say that Quick was ok for the first 2 months i used it download speeds were v good and ping was about 64 on single line but unfortunatly ping had increased to 120-150 and spikes upto 350-450 every 30 seconds for about 5-10 secs witch makes a game verry unplayable.
The problems are all the time accept for about 1am to 6am.

Also i have reinstalled, had BT check my line , had a BT engineer call to check my isdn box on the wall and changed my isdn card all to no avail, all that money and no joy pings are still around 120-150 with big spikes and download speeds seem to be slower.

Support from Quick is Amazing, with an answer to my phonecall almost imediatly and always a verry polite and helpfull person on the other end.
Unfortunatly they have been unable to solve the ever increasing problems of lag and bad pingtimes.

No option but to change isp's. :(
shame as i was willing to stick with Quick.

Touchez!

The same sentiments apply - I have always found their customer service second to none, however, clearly the backbone to their 128K product is suspect. I have given them the benefit of the doubt from day 1 (almost 2 months ago), however, after having actually had BT around in the past few days (after complaining bitterly), it is very apparent that there are problems somewhere else and not at my end.

Being only able to connect reliably after midnignt until about 07:00 in the morning, I might as well subscribe to SAT Red Eye for almost half the price - sorry Quik, I will be going elsewhere, unless you offer the up and coming FRIACO product, which in theory should be more reliable.
