Rebel Internet

It's not intended as a try-and-buy, and it doesn't override existing consumer law - if you sign up to a BT FTTP service and upon installation the service isn't up to scratch then you have all the same rights you had before Ofcom granted additional rights to pursue a cancellation, though this will likely involve writing complaint letters.
Absolutely, unfortunately, that's not so simple/quick :(

I maintain the simplest way to avoid this issue is to enter contracts that let you leave or have no minimum term. It seems to be becoming more popular at least (and the opposite is also true with some ISPs :cautious:).

This has caused confusion due to the way some ISPs (notably Virgin Media) implement it, but the 14-day cooling off period is designed to let you have a think about the contract you signed and whether you're happy with it - the objective is that you have a couple of weeks after being upsold on a faster connection than you need to approach it with a clear head and change your mind.

True but, for goods, your 14 days starts from the day they're delivered, to allow you to inspect them.

As such I think it's rubbish that for services it's from when the contract is agreed.

Switching energy supplier, back when that was a thing, had a needless 14 day delay, which was nothing more than a f--- you.

from my experience with aquiss and BT, your 14 day starts from when you get your internet online. not when you order but idk maybe different for you.

I think it depends on the service - a 14-day cooling off period where there have been installation costs incurred by the ISP (£114+VAT to Openreach in the case of their FTTP) is a non-starter unless providers start billing out the installation costs and the service costs separately and the install charges become non-refundable except in instances where the actual installation hasn't been delivered in a satisfactory way.

As there's been no action really and there's no other threads, I'm upping this.
Does anyone know anything about technical details? I couldn't find any AS number, so have no idea what kind of IP connectivity they sell, what transits etc. Otherwise I think I could take the plunge and test these people for a couple of months 😀
