Recommend a laptop for my daughter please.

windows 7 Pro, but l do know someone who runs a SSD under XP or at least he said he got one and l know for certain he hasnt installed windows 7 yet as he asked me how it was after telling me 8GB of ram wouldnt work on a 32bit OS (5 points for him stating the obvious lol).

tho one word of warning, if you plan to use a after market heatsink on an Asus board be sure to check the bios if you get CPU fan errors, took me ages to work out why my 92mil fan wasnt working, had to disable cool'n'quiet as well as q-fan otherwise it wouldnt spin.. which was kinda annoying especially as l thought l needed a replacement which l will add isnt a standard fan which l can pick up off the shelf, tho l will say temps are very good (CPU 25c with the arctic freezer 7 pro rev 2 and case is at 21c with a full set of fans in my coolermaster 430 elite)

Had same fan issue with the other machine in the house (Wife's) same fix too. If you've got an Asus board and it's Intel based then make sure you use the Intel Chipset drivers rather than the M$ ones. (Force it to use the Intel ones) Also you deffo wanna run the latest RST driver for using the SSD. (Again assuming Intel and your board has suitable chipset). Re your GFX driver. 2 things spring to mind. 1st again assumes Intel Chipset. Goes to point of forcing Intel drivers especially for the PCI express. Failing that try setting the refresh rate to 59Hz rather than 60. (More common with ATI but seen with nVidia too).

by the looks of it l dont have any intel chips on my board.

If nothing shows up under earnings tab since the day that you ordered the laptop via TCB then suggest you Lodge a Missing Cashback Claim. You will need the details of the order that you made to submit it. Sometimes it can go missing but you can lodge a claims as long you have the order details & definitely gone via TCB website to placed the order.

veedubjai, the cashback amount shows as being 'outstanding' in my Topcashback account.

Just had a check around my account and it seems it could take up to 31st May 2012 before payment. That's way to long.

Be patience as these can take time as it's usually upto the retailer in this case, HP to verify it with TCB for validity then HP pays TCB in which then TCB pays you. As long you have followed the instructions to purchase the laptop via TCB & if tracked then it's just a matter of waiting.

I still think it still a good bargain for the price at the time + if the TCB cashback is 100% confirmed then that is a extra bonus. All cashback is never 100% guaranteed as as this is paid by the retailer themselves. This applies to all other cashback websites, not just TCB alone.

Been a member of TCB for many years myself & I have a few that was declined but TCB has always been the better one to use compare to many other cashback websites. You can use another cashback site called www.Quidco.com that I also recommend but be prepared that you have to pay a £5 admin every year to use their service for the same % cashback you get from TCB. There will always be pros & cons to each cashback website that you use but TCB is what I use the most since they offer a better rate than most + I find their service is better than most.

If you have never used cashback sites before then I suggest you read up more on them for your next shopping trip. This link will explain & guide you on what cashback site are. End of day we all shop no matter what, so if you're paying for something in the first place then why not take advantage of the cashback. The most important thing is to remember to focus on the cheapest deal first - not the cashback as this is a bonus.

I'm sure you're not the only one buying this deal since it was a good price + chance of the cashback. In most cases they always pay the cashback. Check out the statistics below.

Do they set a minimum waiting time for the cashback? Some sort of commitment?

Sorry for the delay in replying Mark. I've seen something about 6mths.

Still no payment. There's a tab on the pending payment saying they're having issues with HP being slow in paying. Almost 10mths is a joke!
