Recommend a reliable, good value half meg package?

Anyone recommend a decent ADSL package for a friend of mine?

They are looking for something not to expensive, 512Kb/sec, at least 2GB monthly transfer, a monthly contract. Happy to pay for modem & activation, there's usually a down side to getting those free anyway, i.e. penalties if leaving in first year.

NDO who are my ISP don't have a suitable package.

NDO do -

£15.95 a month for a 512k, 10gb package.
Includes free setup and free modem.

including the usual ndo/namesco bits and bobettes - 0845 24/7 support, webspace, domain name etc...

It was late when I posted this thread, but really should have been more specific. Was looking for something a bit cheaper than £15.95, hence the suggestion of only 2GB transfer, they probably wouldn't use 1GB a month even.

Maybe PAYG would be the way to go?

I'd be happy to recommend NDO and was aware of that package lighterboy, I'm on it myself!

I wouldn't touch Pipex with a barge pole!

All the people I know who are with Pipex haven't got a good word to say about them and are wanting to leave as soon as possible.

That Newnet deal sound interesting, will take a look now.

Problem with that Metronet package, extra transfer is 0.224p per MB, which is wickedly expensive at £2.29 per GB. That's if I've done my sums right?

tesco.net £17.99 unlimted 512k
been with them before and been rock solid, might just go back to them again, after the mess with maxdsl with another isp.

or look at euro1net.com £9.99 a month unlimted upto 1mb. (but have to pay upfront for the year)
would recommend taking out the £39 a year support freephone number too thou, but by far still the cheapest

£17.99 for unlimited 512Kb.....hmmm.

If you read the thread you'd see I wasn't really looking for an unlimited package.
Rather than pay £17.99 for an unlimited deal, I'd much rather recommend NDO's 10GB download at £15.95. Particularly as the person involved will only be using around 1 or 2GB a month.

As for Euro1net, I can't see an option for a monthly contract, can you?

Thanks anyway.

Avoid Euro1Net

I've had poor service from euro1, including them taking extra money from the credit card without permission, not that this happens to everyone, but I would not touch them

I seem to recall Plusnet doing a low usage bundle that may be OK for their needs.

£9.99 a month for a very basic service, but it may well serve their needs.

Worth a look.

Thats a one year contract which the posters' not interested in.
Otherwise, I would have been first to recommend them :D.

Thanks for the suggestions, just looked at that Plusnet £9.99 package, it has a miniscule 50MB download, then charges £2.24 per GB. No thanks Plusnet!!!

They went with Namesco in the end, by the way.

Cheers
