Remote access for android devices?

I would like to be able to reach an android phone over my VPN.
I am great at losing phones etc, and I have some authentication apps, banking apps etc and I'm thinking wouldn't it be cool to leave a cheap phone / tablet at home and install those apps on it and then to remotely access it over VPN from my daily driver phone.

Does anyone do this? if yes, what software do you use.
I have tried airdroid in the past, but it kept being unresponsive so I couldn't rely on it at all.
Are there any other good alternatives? I think there is some sort of screen sharing built into android for developers but I don't know if i'll be able to view that from another android device.

Any suggestions welcomed.

ps. i don't want to do this as an android emulator / container I want it to be on a real device that I could if required take with me somewhere (even though the goal is to leave it at home, if I for example spent a week working abroad I would probably want to take it with me)

Does AnyDesk work?

I know it's unfortunately popular with fraudsters but I think you should be able to open up your banking account with it (considering I'm sure scammers do fine).

isn't it just a client on android?

will check, we have to unfortunately use this thing at work and it's not very reliable.
it took the tech guy fixing my laptop last week 45 mins to connect somehow. But thanks for the suggestion i'll see if it also acts as a server.

Edit:. i recall on the desktop version at least you have to grant a user permission. that's not gonna work as i won't be there to press yes.

I know on the desktop versions from watching too much Scammer Payback etc you can set a password for unattended access

Beware that if a bank app is smart accessing it over AnyDesk should get your account frozen instantly

good point. might not even work at all might just get a black screen. maybe it's not such a smart idea. I just dislike having my banking app on the device im carrying.

Also think about the security of the remote access service. Something you do yourself using VNC might typically only have a single factor of authentication. Where you're going to leave a device with remote internet access that has in turn potential remote access to your banking and finances, you should carefully evaluate how you can be certain only you can have remote access, and consider the risk of software vulnerabilities in the remote access technology.

Also the banking app may use the phones camera to check a human is looking at the screen, if no human looking at screen then it is suspicious.
Also location may be used and the user showing in two locations while accessing banking doesn't look good.

If it helps.. That's not something HSBC or Barclays do.
However when using both... droidVNC goes blank.
Weirdly you can still input.. just not see what you are doing.
I remember Lloyd’s was checking if a device had the teamviewer font installed on the 3DS page

You can also run some JavaScript to poll the local server Anydesk hosts during a connection to test if there’s an active connection, e.g http://127.0.0.1:7484 afaik

You might want to try

droidVNC-NG - Android VNC server

It's a bit limited in that you can't type in it from your VNC client but can use android keyboard but clicking etc works fine.

Have a look see.
Using it now.
Can't get pixel to unlock from the lock screen with it though.
Might have to set it to never lock.
