Reset Router to Factory settings now no streaming services work

hi all, I have the B525-232 sent out by 3, have connected an external antennae and everything seems to be fine. The signal has 5 bars and the speed test shows it is between 80-150Mbps so happy with that. I have sky and a Samsung TV connect to it and they have been working fine for about a year. There was an issue the sky box the other day and it was suggested that I reset the router to see if that was the issue. Using the Huawei app, I reset it to factory settings.
I have logged back in to the router admin but now the TV cannot connect to its server, none of the apps on the tv work as a result. The sky box is connected to the internet but the streaming services all show errors that suggest the internet connection is unstable.
I have tried the 3 customer service in the past but they seem less capable than a few of the contributors on here, so I have registered to request your advice.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

I'm assuming you have reset the wi-fi password back to what it was before? If so, it's my guess is that your router's default wi-fi channel has changed. Are you using 2.4ghz or 5ghz? If you're using 5GHz then there are three bands, A, B and C. Older devices may only use band A, which is channels 36-48. The B525s-23 uses Bands A, and B, but yours is the 232, maybe uses A and C? Band C uses channels 141 and higher which many UK devices won't recognise. In your router's wi-fi menus you can manually select a band. Try 48 and see how it goes.
I have one device that won't recognise anything higher than ch64 so I have to set my router to that.
Also get hold of a copy of the free wi-fi inspection tool for the PC called inSSIDer. You need to sign up with an email address and set a password but it's pretty benign. I've used it for years. It will enable you to check for band clashes with other users in your neighbourhood. The latest Virgin and BT superhubs claim to reach all around the house but what they don't tell you is that they're invading your neighbours' houses as well.

Hi whoflungdung,

A few users have had this problem which was cured by making sure the ip version is set to v4 only and trying both APN's

They are three.co.uk and 3internet.

These settings are usually found in the webui under network settings.

Click on your existing profile and change it to IPv4 only if it's set to both.

(It's an easy to miss setting, you have to scroll a little to get to the to the
Ipv settings)

Worth a try, It might be the ipv version being set to 'both' rather than v4 only.

Best of luck if you give it a try.😊

thank you for this, I have done completed (I think) both suggestions. I have changed channel to 48 and SSIDer is working, I confess though the data levels are above my novice understanding.

thank you for this, I did try this, after I had changed the channel per above suggestion but (i) I only have one profile auto (ii) it does not offer me the option to select ipv settings
Appreciate the input though, thank you

Are you absolutely sure you scrolled whoflungdung, at first glance you don't see it can scroll, but it is possible.

Actually click on your profile first.

I'm not doubting you, (I am really😁) but just give it one more wee check to make sure.

Anyway, hope you can get to the bottom of it, keep us posted on how you get on.(y)

inSSIDer is easy enough to understand. Check the bottom graph and the table to see if anyone else is using the same channel as yourself. If they are and they have a strong signal (green) try another.
I would also get one of the LTE monitor apps/programs such as Huactrl for Android or LTEH-Monitor or LTE Inspecteur for PC. I like the latter as you can see signal quality and strength at a glance. This table gives to an indication of what to expect.

thank you for the video. I can confirm mine doesn't't offer that option, if I try to scroll, it scrolls the screen behind the pop-up when I try.
So far no joy, I tried to call 3 customer support and was told this is a global issue for all users unable to stream, it seems ridiculous. Literally can get Youtube, xbox anything but no streaming and no downloads from sky.....

Scrolling back through these posts I noticed that you said that you used the Huawai app to reset your router. Is it possible that the reset wasn't complete? Would it be worth trying another hard reset using the paper clip method?
There's a little hole next to the ethernet ports. Turn on the device and use an opened paper clip to press in the hole until the power LED flashes then release it.

I suspect this is an IPV6/4 issue. Sky Boxes, recently, will default to using IPV6. Samsung TV Hubs (older than a couple years) do not work with IPV6 at all (though newer ones seem ok). If you are on 4G with Three, the network is almost exclusively operating on IPV4. Factory re-setting your router (from 3) will probably have settings for IPV as "IPV4 & IPV6" - for some reason all the mobile networks seem to use this setting as their 'default'. Sky boxes will try to use IPV6 on this setting and will 'fail' on the Three network, as will their apps.

The advice above re changing APN will work if you change the setting in the router to IPV4 only, at the same time, though both APNs will work on IPV4 only. The setting is hidden on Huawei Routers from Three (and other ISPs).

In your case, the B525, you need to find the page where your APN is selected - change it to manual and seek to add an APN '+APN'. Sorry but my B525 is in a box in the garage and I can't recall the precise page for this.

You can sometimes access this via the console. (On your pc) access your router's admin pages, go to 'Network Settings'; 'Mobile Network - internet settings' and then '+' for add APN.

Then hit F12 (to access elements of the webpage) and open the console tab (should be the tab next to 'Elements') and type in:

$('#ip_type').show();

This should also bring up the option to change IPV settings. Change it to 'IPV4 only' then save it (giving it a memorable name - so you can change back if needed). You may need to reboot your router after this - then head back to the relevant web admin page, show up the 'hidden settings' again and check the change has been saved.

Alternatively, on some of the slightly older Samsung TVs you might have the option within the TV internet settings to set it to use IPV4 only, but not all have this facility (newer ones do not).

Hope this helps - I had a similar problem with a new Sky Box install and changing the settings of the router to 'IPV4 only' worked.

thank you very much for your response. I appreciate this advice and the fine gentleman prior also said ipv4 was the way.
It has indeed shown the hidden filter the Wee Bear was referencing
I have selected IPV4.
Thank you for the help.
This has not solved the issue for me. There is still no access to the streaming services and a few websites are not accessible saying "Does not accept the certificate"
"In fact now does not allow me to post a response on this forum, I have had to log in via my work PC to put this update through"

Just a thought - have you checked the 'time settings' on your tv and/or your router? Some sites might not work if your time settings are out of synch. a possibility following a reset?

thank you, I've updated the router and will check TV & Sky shortly

Hey @whoflungdung
I've recently had issues with streaming services on my LG smart TV, with Three and my Huawei router. Started around beginning of Jan, not sure if there was a FW update on the router.
I complained to Three (god they're a struggle) and they sent out a ZTE router which is part of their new deals.

I was hoping the ability to change the IPv4v6 to just IPv4 would solve the issue but the streaming services still didn't work.

Eventually I got it working by changing the APN settings from "3internet" to "three.co.uk". I could keep the IPv4v6 running and it's working.

Only thing I still haven't got working is my HP Printer which can't connect to the HP server, so I can't print. No idea about that one!

Hope this helps you.

Thank you everyone who has made suggestions and helped.
The current solution has been to (i) create a new APN profile (ii) unhide the IPV type settings and set to IPV4 and (iii) change the APN settings to three.co.uk
So this has enabled the streaming apps to work on the TV but not all through the sky box. There does seem to be a further issue with Sky (but their engineer is booked and hope they can sort) we can download our purchases but none of the available on demand stuff. I think this might be an authorisation issue as it is a new box.
Thank you all once more.

Hello again.......
Thanks to all the contributions on here, we managed to get some form of internet working but we are now stuck in "first world problems" mode. There are 2 issues and I think one will be obvious to you experts but the second maybe subjective but please do let me know your thoughts.

(i) Sky did send engineers round who hard wired the skyQ box to the router and added a wifi extender/booster in order to get a better signal to the dining room.
This is all well and good but since this has been changed, I am no longer able to access my router settings at 192.168.8.1 the page seems dead (no response) and it then kicks through to a netgear page and I cannot understand why.
If anyone has dealt with this please do advise.

(ii) The wife cannot download her Married at First sight Australia episodes to the sky box but can watch on SkyGo on her iPad.

Of the reading I have done on this site, it looks like a potential issue of the Huawei B535-232 changing IP addresses and the advert content and programme content coming from different databases, so the ads download ok, but then when the Router changes the IP address and it attempts to download the programme, it fails.

Sky have been clear it is a 3 issue. Who have been clear it is a Sky issue. My wife thinks it is my issue.

There are some threads that suggest changing the DNS to Google or Cloudflare will stop this happening (this seems a cheaper solution)

The other suggestions are to set-up a VPN (free is slow and paid is better)

I don't know enough to really grasp this but I do know that the same router was working fine (with sky) before I reset it to factory settings originally.

I would prefer to try the DNS option (if feasible) as it is free but I cannot access the router settings.

Last resort I would be inclined to pay for a VPN if absolutely necessary but I cannot access the router to set this up anyhow.

Please help.
