Retrieving Locked Email Accounts

This may be of help to anyone who has switched over to broadband but still uses their Freeserve/Wanadoo dialup email account.

I tried checking my email this morning and got the message that the account had been locked. I use this account a lot so called the 09 number. It turns out that if you haven't accessed your dialup account using dialup for 90 days, it is locked.

The person I spoke to (in India I presume) was very helpful in explaining why it was locked and how to unlock it in future. There is a link on the Wanadoo site so you can do it yourself. It can be located at:

That's a useful message, because quite a few people aren't aware of inactive accounts being suspended and how to re-activate them.

Can I just clarify a minor point, it's pretty obvious but this only applies if the customer decides on a differnet user name/email address when they upgrade to Broadband.
If the same user name / email address is used when upgrading, there is obviously no need to keep having to reactivate the account or access it via dial-up in order to stop it being suspended.
I point this out because I discovered someone was actually doing it !!
