my router, a TP link Archer vr2800 is marked as end of life by the manufacturer;
https://www.tp-link.com/uk/service-provider/dsl-router/archer-vr2800/
what next?

1: Disconnect immediately and go to the appalling Now router for a while?

2: Upgrade to something else - if so what - i've had a few TP links in the past and been happy with them so may keep the same brand as its familiar also at some point i will need to move to Voip when my Now broadband deal ends

3: do nothing and wait about 10 months when my current Now broadband FTTC deal ends, and then i need to go to FTTP / Voip

EOL just means end of support or firmware updates unless something major comes out (Draytek released FW for their old routers due to a critical vuln)

You can keep it as is for now as long as its updated to the current Firmware.

Also if you want to be sure - You could upgrade to a newer edition.
I mean its only £100 for a similar device thats more updated... May be worth it or you have the budget, go slightly higher?

I would update to the most recent firmware and keep it until your current contract expires, as long as you are happy with it and there are no big security risks.
