friend of mine recently got a 2nd PC, so he needed a router. he bought a Netgear DG834. I have the wireless version, and I think it's great, no problems. a friend of his brother sometimes brings his laptop round to share the net connection, as he doesnt have net access at home. this is where the problem starts. he uses the laptop at college, and connects to the net with a wi-fi card. but soon as he plus his laptop into the router, the 2 desktop PC's also connected to the router lose the connection. if I remember correctly, on one of the desktops at least, it said something about a new wireless connection. I aksed about the wi-fi card in the laptop, and it is removed when connected to the router.
that's all I know at the moment. I'll see if I can get some more info from them. my friend also noticed that pings were about 300ms when connected to the router, this is on both main PC's. compared to the 100ms he usually had when he used a modem. I told him to get rid of any software firewall, but the high pings still remain. anyone got any ideas?
