Rubbish!

I endured a rubbish service from Tiscali for many years but since it has been taken over by TT I have virtually no internet. I am not technically minded when it comes to connectivity to internet. Frankly life is a bit too short to obsess about my BB speed. Is it too much to expect to be able to send the occasional email or do a bit of product research? I am suffering repeated drop outs throughout the day, although I have more success at 2am. (Not very useful!)
I then received a letter from TT asking me to raise my subscription so that they could give me an even better service. Joke or what?
I rang the number they quoted and complained that I had virtually no access to internet for £20.00 per month. It was answered immediately because they were all geared up to rake in more money but I was then told to ring 'complaints' which was 5p per minute and terribly slow and long winded. I was blown off by the technical guy who said that they could not guarantee access to internet as I was guilty of using a wireless system. Tsk Tsk What a sin!
I saw red and demanded a MAC.

Where do I go from here to satisfy my limited needs? I just want an ISP that gives me access to the internet. I am worried about jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

If you have an O2 phone and are within their LLU network I would recommend them. It'll cost £7.50 if you have a phone (£12.50 if you don't, which is still pretty good) and I am pretty impressed with them, having been a customer for over a year.

In fact a friend of mine has just moved to them, who is a much heavier user than you (watching Sky Player on his Xbox, mainly) and he is amazed just how much better than AOL (his previous ISP, also part of the TT internot company) they are.

Whoever you choose - good luck!

If you're covered by O2 / Be Broadband's unbundled network then they are both pretty good and O2 will also introduce phone line services in March. Just be careful because O2's BT-based Home Access product is a bit on the poor side:

Sky Broadband Unlimited, IDNet, Zen, Fast.co.uk, Xilo are also good bets.
