RWG Mobile - Really Woeful Goods ?

Under advice, I took out an RWG subscription to test EE coverage from a certain mast for backup. Turns out, it appears that because the SIM had no voice ability (data only) it wouldn't connect to any B20 carrier so they sent me a Vodafone SIM as well which worked - on B20. Hurrah.

I burned through the 5gb data during tests positioning antennas etc and have been waiting for it to renew (18/19th of month) to continue testing EE in a different location (Frankantenna in garage roof)

However, they've taken the money and service hasn't resumed. I've emailed them several times and it's been 'wait until tomorrow'.

Well tomorrow has been and come a couple of times now. Just tried calling to speak to someone only for the robot to tell me to email instead and so I've just Karen'd and cancelled it.

Frankly it's not worth the hassle for a £4 service. EE data SIM without B20 access but Vodafone is fine - auto renewals that don't auto renew - customer service who's response was as useful as 'turn it off and on'

Suffice to say, not a great experience.

Thanks, I was pondering whether to move to them, but I keep hearing these alarm bells. I'll stay put for now.

Think it's better sticking to the devils we know Lucian. 😁

They can't even claim it's the device as the Vodafone SIM worked fine in the little L800 router I've got until it but the cap.

The APN hasn't changed either. If I change to Vodafone APN it'll connect and pick up an IP but obviously no data. Going back to RWG APN, won't even connect.

WANTED:

EE provider that actually has a working service that doesn't cost the earth to test with.

RWG just returned my call from my voicemail I left this morning.

"Thanks for calling me back, it's all been resolved now - I've cancelled my subscription."

"Ok, thanks for letting me know, bye"

Could make a killing here at RWG consulting on 'retention policies'

Yeah that's not right - something doesn't add up there.

I've just been informed that the payment and renewal dates are different to the bundle dates which renew on the 1st.

Hence, why I've paid on the 18th for a service that doesn't technically renew until the 1st march.

hell, i was looking to move to RWG in April, wondered why they'd recently lowered all they're prices out the blue....

1p mobile?
Was paying £4 for 5GB with RWG, 10GB is £7, granted that's data only.
1p mobile is £10 for 10GB.

Not mention I just don't like their business model 1p for everything, 1p for 1MB data. 1GB is suddenly £10!

RWG have reinstated my account now and given 1GB data just to tide over until 1st which is nice enough I guess - unexpected.

I don't necessarily need it immediately, just annoyed that my service started 18th Jan, but technically only had until the 31st to use my allowance so effectively paid for only 13 days worth of service.

Most places, first month you pay for the handful of days up until the normal billing period then it renews in-line.

Not entirely accurate as 1P mobile do packs with 1GB costing £5 to 200GB costing £30.

You're only referring to the standard PAYG value offering.

That deal is intended for those who hardly use data and have very light usage of their phone.

Always best to research before assuming worse: https://www.1pmobile.com/index.taf?cprefs=agree

I'm currently on the £15 pack for 50GB and I get everything that EE offers including WiFi calling and 5G which is only available to EE Contract users not EE PAYG users.

Nothing that I've written is inaccurate

I have researched. I'm aware that 1p do packs, just not ones that suited my needs.
I didn't want 1GB for £5. I wanted 5GB for £4 as it's the better deal.

RWG is arguably dearer for 10GB of data and up. By £2 in fact.

But they're arguably cheaper for smaller deals.

I'm not sure if I'd want to deal with all this crap just to save £2.

When I wanted to test EE I picked 1pMobile because they have 5G and access to the lower bands, something that other NVMOs don't seem to have. Paid a little bit more, but it worked well.

It's sorted now, partly my fault - didn't read FAQs after signing up - however when I asked the question they could have given a straight answer rather than led me to believe it'll be renewed after payment date rather than 1st month.
Likewise, they could say no EE B20 access on data only plans.

Consider this a Goldilocks lesson. £10 for 10GB cost too much, £5 for 1GB data too little. 5GB for £4 was just right.

Nevermind.

Ordered 2 SIMs from RWG in the last 3 weeks (1 week apart), they are yet to reach me..
