Same cabinet very different speed?

Hi, I was wondering if someone could explain something to me, and forgive me if this has already been brought up or is a foolish question:

In our village we have, I believe, 2 cabinets both ADSL2+ FTTC, connected back in 2013 and 2014 and we are not on any current build out proposals.
A small minoroty of the homes in the village though seem have access to 1Gb network where the rest don't. The distance of the homes to the cabinet isn't, from my understanding, the reason, as looking at a map of the location, of those homes able to connect, is quite varied and until recently they didn't have 1Gbs access.

The only reason I can think for the change is Openreach connecting a small'ish 40 homes or so newbuild estate, and these new builds either have their own cabinet, that I've not seen or that is registarted on telecom-tariffs, or are connect via Fibre to the existing cabinets (this is where my understanding runs out on cabinets and FTTP). The reason I'm most confused though is that a seemingly random grouping/s of homes that already existed before the new builds now have 1Gbs network access, no road dug up or from what I can tell cables replaced.

I'd be grateful for an explanation in this situation.

Cheers
Sam

The quickest explanation is probably that FTTP doesn't use the green cabinets you're accustomed to.

If the area is using underground ducting, it's possible it was relatively easy to do when the new area was built so it was. This is why you won't see any digging, as it's all done through pre-laid ductwork/chambers.

If the area is built with telegraph poles, you'll see a CBT stuck on the pole somewhere which is where the fiber will connected to connect to the premises. This is normally done "more obviously" as the CBT will stuck to the pole, and a reel of fiber left hanging on the pole for a few weeks whilst the team connecting the poles up catches up.

It's possible they found an issue (e.g. collapsed ductwork) and didn't progress, a different team will probably turn up at a later date and clear any issues, then fiber will be pulled through the rest of the area (hopefully).

Thanks for this reply Matt_2k34. I have a feeling you could be right but I also get the feeling that no one is going to be coming back for quite some time give how long ago these homes we're connected, but we can live in hope right, that they will make it around the whole village!

What is most frustrating is that the homes with fibre are right behind mine, I have line of site between to properties to the pole with the CBT! It's so close yet so far!

Cheers

I had a similar issue in my village and complained to the OR chief executive regarding not getting fibre and lo and behold 4 months later I now have fttp ,so this might be the route you may have to take
