Samsung S20 FE 5G not updating?

Hi all. All weekend my phone has been trying and failing to receive the latest Samsung firmware update.

I had thought I'd probably find posts all over about this but.... nothing!

Never been a problem before and I have plenty of free memory on the phone.

Any ideas?

I think this may actually have been something on Three's network as my phone updated immediately once I'd connected to the WiFi at the gym. Both my connections here (home BB and phone) are Three 5G.

So looks like it hasn't been eol'd just yet.

TBH I'd expect some sort of message on the phone to say that the device was eol, rather than it just refusing the update like it did.

Do you have content block enabled on Three?

When I was with them it tended to block a lot of notifications for some reason.

I think the adult content filter may be on on my phone but there's no filter on my 5G home wifi and I tried both.

The latest security update was 1st September although sent In UK after this date.
Samsung decided to keep the S20FE 5G variant on updates for now (a change to what it previously said). It will then move to quarterly updates.
For now it's a keeper!

Thanks for that info. I do hope to hang on to the phone for at least another 12 months. I hate replacing things unnecessarily.
I put Niagra from Google play onto pgone and love it.
S25 probably use snapdragon so might be upgrade then for 7 years however I agree why change what simply works!

Use odin and Samfw for the latest firmware...
You can force it to update via USB in Download mode.

Wont affect you warranty.

The good news is, if updates bother you, Google have been slowly transitioning to a modular system where they can deploy updates bypassing the manufacturers and not requiring the entire OS to be updated, these will be deployed to phones that are EOL as well.

As an example although I have deliberately kept my phone on Android 11, I was able to update some modules including wifi, via their modular update system, this surprisingly isnt automatic by default I think, it should be somewhere in the android settings, google are going to move it to the play store I think.
