SatDrive.. Should I ?

I currently have BSkyB and a dish... Theres one thing i really dont want and that is two dishs on the side of my house.. can i keep my existing dish and use that for both broadband and TV ? If so do you recommend SatDrive or any other SAT service provider ?

I also own a laptop and the connection would have to be USB.

Regards

Mike

P.S Any information on this subject will be greatfully received.

I'm not an expert but it depends on your location, you may get away with using a 60cm sky dish, but that's at 28.2 degrees east, sat drive is at 8 degrees west,so you will need one dish at astra the other at telcom 2d.I live In south east Ireland I need a one metre dish.In England u should get away with a 60 cm dish! Also sat drive i think provide a usb modem which you should be able to use with your p.c and laptop,I too am thinking of getting satdrive but from reading what others say yea I think It is worth it! I might wait until Eerywhere Boadband comes on line in January, check out the site http://www.everywherebroadband.com/ebb.html . hope this is of some use to you! :)

I think you'll really need to have 2 dishes to get it up and running mate. No-one as yet has managed to run Sky and Sat dsl concurrently on a Sky dish. Silvermead promised it but haven't yet got it going. I think the current 42cm Sky dishes are way too small anyway - I went for the standard Silvermead package with their 80cm dish and it works a treat - 89% signal in Cambridgeshire :)

The missus moaned to begin with about the 2nd dish but I got the installer to put it next to the Sky dish and it doesn't look to bad - worth it for the speeds anyway ;)

Thanks for the reply guys i just had a look at EverywhereBroadband.. from what there saying you will be able to receive both TV and BB through 1 dish... That sounds good to me think i will hold on for more information from EWBB.. There package looks good and i am also looking forward to seen some of there business plans.

Thanks

Mike

Oops sorry for the confusion - no I'm on Satdrive, I was merely commenting about the 2nd dish argument. I looked at Silvermead but their paltry downlimit limits put me off ;)

EWBB are just going to be another Silvermead - a reseller of someone else's service. The low monthly fee and unlimited download do seem attractive though.

LOL yeah there is that too :D

I'm beginning to wonder if Silvermead are offering a virtual service. Sort of the Sat ISP version of vapourware :D

monitoring

Hi,

Well this thread went a tad off-topic! Anyhow we now have monitoring pages for the SatDrive service which shows you what bandwidth you can receive in the various priorities.http://service.skydsl.de/monitor

Feel free to phone us for more details as well about this or of course post here.
