Scam call filtering

Mine has a similar problem still, treats me like I'm under 18 though my DoB is correct and always has been (granted it's only been a couple years that I've been over that age however I've had it since 2017)
I don't think I've specified a date of birth for my 3 other Google accounts, the one that I use primarily has my first name and last name in it (which is a terrible practice). I generally try to not use my main email as much for new services now, for example, ISPR and Cellmapper are on a different email.

Ideally, get a separate Google account and aliases when you can (Hugh Jefferies made a good video about this recently but of course YouTube took it down). Even something such as email+ispr@gmail.com that forwards to your main email is theoretically a lot better than firstnamelastname@gmail.com.

I had to specify a date of birth for YouTube monetisation and I specifically set it as over 18 (I don't think this screwed up anything with tax, but then again the IRS was charging me 30% tax). I don't know whether I'd have any issues with trying to fix it now or not considering I'm demonetised anyways now.

Pretty certain that's a scam and likely a phishing attempt too.

Haven't received one of these in ages

Think that might be spam

No clue whatsoever as to who or why

Although I thought the second option was enabled here, guess I still have some settings to double check 😆
I just had to fix the announce caller ID one as it was enabled and caught me off guard as it announced the number

That didn't take long 😆

Vodafone-ie number as well

I have a feeling it wouldn't have got through if I had the filter suspected spam calls feature on I thought it was originally but I guess I should have checked

I have no clue

Likely spam? would be my guess anyway.

Was yesterday at 13:31, contracted somewhat of a cold though.

Upon further searching, it's an EE (orange) number linked to numerous scams. Most notably government immigration that I could see.

Automatically spam, London number (BT)

No automatic voicemail, just an instant message I missed a call from them by O2.

Looks like it's some business / individual posing as Sky support as well.

Just had 2 more scam calls, one rejected instantly - down as spam. Second one just now came through as non spam. 07368 number block the other one 30m ago was 07943 number block.

That's new in spam call land, apparently my number was used to phone that 07368 number at 10:36 am. They phoned me at 10:59 to return the call.

But I never phoned them, nor knew their number until they phoned me.

Could it be that my number is spoofed somehow?

As that would be the only reasonable answer to me.

I had received another at 14:46 from another number, again spam

Number spoofing is unfortunately possible and does go on, although the network operators are supposed to be making it more difficult for you to originate calls from numbers you don't own.

I had a range of numbers at work that were being regularly spoofed we were getting a lot of blowback of people returning calls to us that we had never made, and for some numbers in the range we had to take some numbers out of service and put a recorded announcement on them. We had done what we could to report to both BT and our network operator but they didn't know how to help. It was an interesting day when the plod turned up at the front door wanting to investigate malicious calls we might have been making, but they found an orderly office of a reputable business and plenty of evidence that we had done what we could to report it ourselves. They did enjoy the tea and biscuits though because it was one of those odd jobs that they had never had, and probably never would again.

Luckily I haven't had anything since all the spam calls, aside from a spam text earlier from evri (although not expecting anything from evri) it did also move it to spam automatically as well.

But yeah, hopefully with the improvements happening over recent time + some things yet to be implemented will improve the situation regarding number spoofing, let alone tackling spam better as well (although that's always a growing issue, because when you fix a way spam gets through they always find another way)

Turns out that may have been WhatsApp, I've since uninstalled it and have had absolutely no spam or scam calls.

I don't get why all of a sudden there was spam/scam calls, they weren't going through WhatsApp either.

Slightly unfortunate as I do have some international friends that use WhatsApp.

I even double checked the WhatsApp settings beforehand and everything was as it should have been. Strange.

What's even more strange is that person who had the 07368 number apparently said I called them first (which I didn't)
