Securely sharing a file

I need to send someone a file. It's only 9MB but it's too big for their mailbox.

Can't use OneDrive > Share a Link since that is not secure, anyone with the link can view. It needs to require a password of some sort to be downloadable.

Don't really want to set up a new FTP host just for one file.

I'm sure there's a really simple way of doing what I need but I've never had to do this before and have a mental block at the moment ;)

Any suggestions..

Use file encryption if you really must use a cloud service. VeraCrypt is one option, AxCrypt is another (although I don't know much about it). The Mega cloud service is also meant to be more secure than many. Of course they could just create another free email account that will accept 9MB. If security is of prime importance try Protonmail - my email provider of choice.

Many companies forbid the use of cloud storage for security reasons, mine included, although it is interesting to see that cloud platforms are fast becoming the 'elastic' data center for progressive companies.

Passworded RAR file and then wetransfer.com
Or setup a BitTorrentSync (Risliio sync) file between the two computers.

I use BTSync between my computer and most of my customers / clients. A pretty easy way to share and sync files.

I need to look at Risliio as this is new to me. P2P is about one to many sharing so how does it work for 1-2-1? Sure, for a piddly 9MB file I see no issue but I am not sure I get the big picture? I guess you could share bandwidth so some people transfer your data if you transfer their in return but I am not really sure how that works. Something to investigate tomorrow I think.

It only transits your file. Other people's stuff doesn't get relayed via you. Imagine it as your own Dropbox between two computers but without the "cloud hosting" part.

encrypt with safehouse explorer.. granted its more used for creating encrypted sections on a drive (when loaded up depending on the setup the show as a hard drive) lve not looked at the setting but the encryption is strong and one can get a portable version to load the file. l use google drive otherwise and just share the folder with specific users.

I'd just do a password protected RAR or ZIP file, remembering to tick the 'encrypt file names' option, and then just transfer it however you want (could even split the archive into two and email it). Just set a really long password so brute force won't be much use until quantum home computers become a reality :) .

And remember, a phrase that you can remember is better than a random selection of letters you have to write down somewhere.

For example "Cry Hav0c and let l00se the d0gs of war". All those o's substituted for numerals, obviously.
