I want to install a Virgin Media Fibre connection at project. Virgin are in the street, but to get to the house they will need to go through the pavement, then either :
- round the perimeter of the garden, under a patio, enter building by side of rack cupboard where router will reside
OR
- under front garden, up wall across roof, enter building by side of rack cupboard where router will reside
Either way my guess is from past dealing with them on other projects the surveyor / installer is not going to do it.
Being in the construction industry and used to dealing with installing other services eg. gas, water, electric, even BT phone lines. The services provider tends to provide a spur on the permitter of the property and the electrican, plumbers connection is connected into that spur. Thus enabling the property
Can we do the same with Virgin ? Eg. run the cable ourselves from the router location to the perimeter of the property and leave the cable spooled up on the perimeter end and without coax jack onthe other end. Then Virgin can come along connect the spooled up end into their spur, and put a coax end on the other end and install the rotuer ?
Is that possible ? If so what cable do we need to run, ive read some posts where people are mentioning coax rg6, but from what i can tell thats what Virgin run inside the property. From looking at other installs they seem to run a twin / siamese cable externally, whats that cable called ?
