Seriously slow tonight on Three...........

Had 2 outages this weekend for around an hour each time with no connectivity but the teal light being on the B535 all the time.

Then tonight, you-tube is dying. Do a quick speedtest and on 4G+ I'm getting 12.22 Mbps with 80ms latency!

Well, so much for the new 20 Data centres to boost performance......................

Probably trying some new configuration, potentially to onboard those data centers - weekend and overnight are the common times to do such maintenance/configuration change, when loads are lowest.

Every time I see the news on here about Three's improvements it makes me seriously regret being stupid and cancelling a 5 quid unlimited everything SIM, then I come to the forums and see nothing has changed and don't feel quite as bad.

Well its no better this morning, download is around the same, upload is struggling to make 1Mbps and latency is now 90-200ms.

Connected to your normal mast/bands? Anything showing on one.network around the area the mast is that could indicate some works? Anything showing on Three's network checker (and/or EE's if they share the same mast)?

Same mast, same bands 1+3, Nothing on one.network and "Our systems haven’t reported any network problems." on three's network status checker.

It does seem to be improving now, so it does look like Three is doing some load balancing or something. I did a few tests at midnight and it ranged from 4Mbps to 120Mbps download speeds so I guess it just goes to show what its capable of if the bandwidth is available.

Suppose its more down to what three let me have......

It could also be that Three are struggling with the massive influx of customers who just got the £16 unlimited deal.

But joking aside, the blatant way in which they are undercutting competition right now cannot be good for the quality of connection in the medium term.

The problem is they're being allowed to do it. I guess OFCOM have no oversight allowing them to view network capacity provision of ISP's, so they can subscribe as many customers as they want effectively and the impact it has on their networks isn't a concern to them. With customers all signed up for 2 year contracts three have already nailed them down.

I'm loving that 8ms ping. That's FTTC level ping.
Mine on EE is not lower than 18 from what I saw.
Upload is unimpressive, but decent.
When I trialed them in August (N London) I got pathetic numbers like 4-5 down and 3 up, something like that, completely laughable, if it wasn't tragic.

This is clearly only possible because I am fortunate enough to live in one of the rare spots where Three have 5G coverage. Their 4G isn't nearly as impressive - around 50/12 (DL/UL) on average. EE have better speeds here (over 300 on both 4G and 5G) but also higher ping, usually in the high 20s. You are right though that 8ms is phenomenal. Good enough even for competitive gaming, I suppose! I couldn't get below 15ms on my fibre with Virgin.

By the way, the measurement I posted was done on WiFi - I didn't even bother plugging in my LAN cable. It would seem that for a thousand frustrated Three customers, there will be one lucky ******* like me who gets some serious speeds. Let's see how long it lasts but for now and for 16 per month (+cashback!), as a backup for my EE SIM, I can't complain.

Glad for you and I really hope they get their act together and improve their backhaul.
It'll be a shame to waste those 100Mhz of 5G.

BTW, I saw Smarty announced £15/m unlimited sims.. this will put even more people on their infra. :)

I've seen that - it's really not looking too promising for existing Three customers. We can only hope that 2 years from now people will be so frustrated with the abysmal speeds that they migrate to EE and Three will use the additional revenue to upgrade their backhaul.

Did anybody experience similar issues last night (Sunday 6 December)?

It seemed abysmal. Packet loss and latency going up and down. My cell does not suffer congestion.

Sat night was my only recent issue, streaming Prime got me audio only for a few minutes, changed to a different stream which worked fine and then went back to watching Nikki popping out the cupboard and visuals were back.

Yesterday was pretty abysmal, as has been today up until about 30 mins ago, but I did get a little bit of 5G at 4am!

Have been getting a steady 60 to 70 on Smarty for the past few weeks, now it's down to 11 with an upload of 9
