I just helped an older person migrate away from the closing down John Lewis broadband to Shell Broadband. The older person is in a FTTC only area, no other options, their 80M service is more than sufficient.
Although from the documents received it suggested that the landline voice would be provided on the digital voice port on the router but in reality the landline stayed as a PSTN dial tone service.
Just offering this as a data point for others still seeking a PSTN service, although I obviously can't guarantee you would get the same offer.
Note that Shell Broadband was part of Shell Energy. Shell Energy was bought by by Octopus late last year. Shell has long since partnered with TalkTalk to operate their network. And according to press reports Octopus plans to offload Shell Broadband fully to TalkTalk despite Octopus owning other UK broadband assets. So buying from TalkTalk or Shell Broadband whilst the brand still exists probably ends up with the same end service.
