Shocking service

I sent one of the infamous 'enotes' to ebuyer about something.

I forgot about it, as it wasnt important. Now I have just received a reply.

I sent it on the 29th of November last year!! Today is the 11th of January.

Now what if it had been important? They have taken away telephone support.

I think its disgusting. I will be using novatech and the like from now on wherever I can.

This is just so as people can be aware of what goes on. The returns procedure is bad as well. Although we eventually got a replacement, we got it bare. Just a motherboard in a plain white box, none of the cables that was supposed to be with it (which we had sent back).

I asked for the cables, manuals etc to be sent, they said ok. Weeks later, we get a load of 80 pin IDE cables. No sata cables, no motherboard manuals...

Useless.

Ebuyer are notrious for this.. being a stack 'em high sell em cheap box shifter, and that's about the end of it. They're great as long as everything works tickety-boo, but if it doesn't then basically you're screwed.

An interesting thing I noticed about ebuyer, is when buying a few items how they apply VAT... choosing just about any group of products at random.. the VAT always seems to be a penny or two over what it should be. I noticed this when buying a few items at work.. we have an electronic purchasing system that works out all the stuff you need, and this includes VAT.. and it has nearly always without fail been a couple of pence over.

While this might not seem a great deal, just think of all the transactions they must make, and it soon racks up... anyone seen Superman 3 :)

Its not just me then! I always thought Id made an error while calculating it. Seems I was right all along.

I know ebuyer are a buy it in bulk and flog type company, but at least they had some semblance of support. If you tried enough you could get through on the phone.

Now its gone, theres no email, no nothing, just the crappy enote system. And thats getting worse.

Yes I seen superman 3, and I know exactly what bit your on about :D

And to think that Ebuyer was founded by the very same person (Paul Cusack) who started Plusnet.
The founder left Plusnet/Insight quite some time ago, but AFAIK is still with Ebuyer.

I’ve periodically used Ebuyer for many years and so far had no problems at all, but no doubt my luck will run out sooner or later whereupon I’d consider writing a complaint to:

Ebuyer (UK) Limited
201 Woodbourne Road
Sheffield
S9 3LR

Personally I think I remember them taking around a week to respond to enotes. Most of the time when I've had a complaint to make they've settled in my favour - though most sellers don't consistently mess up orders ! I'll still be using them for the time being since they are very competitive on price, have a good range of items, and a customer review system. I don't think ebuyer deliberately set out to be annoying but would have to agree that the number of errors they make gives the appearance that they are sometimes in a state of confusion.

Well I complained via enote, and it was answered the next day! Funny methinks.

Anyway, I got a very snotty response, asking if I actually had a problem. I will send an approprite one today. My original enote was polite, and not sarky etc and I got a snotty response which annoyed me.

Oh well.

I placed an order on 9/1/05. My credit card was charged within 15 minutes and delivery promised on 13/1/05.

Mysteriously, on 12/1/05 the status changed to order placed. Submitted an enote. No reply - another submission.

Waited for delivery on 13/1 - no delivery, further enote - no reply.

Yesterday pointed out (by enote!) that I would have to get the credit card company involved as there was no communication from ebuyer. Hopefully, ebuyer will get round to reading my notes before I contact the credit card company! Anyone else suffered a similar problem?

Not had this specific problem, but the way they price their deliveries is a bit of a scam anyway.

If you oder by standard delivery it can take upto 4 days for the item to be delivered, so many people pay the extra for next day delivery. Which is fair enough, but have you ever noticed.. when you take the standard delivery, they basically just sit on the order and then pick it and ship it the day prior to the delivery time they state. Essentially you are getting next day delivery.

It would seem the cost of delivery for them is the same, no matter how its shipped. On another note the amount of times I have selected an item that includeded free shipping, but once you get to the shopping cart, the free shipping has mysteriously disappeared

Hi,

I would recommend, if you are concerned speaking with your local trading standards department, as I think this may be the kind of thing they may be interested in.

Wish I'd read before I bought!!

Hi guys/gals...I read your thread with interest and wish I'd done so before ordering from Ebuyer. I think we should at least alert places like Kelkoo of their appalling service!

I ordered a CD Spindle of 100 disks last Mon/Tues (Tues I think) and was expecting delivery on Friday 14th. I then had an email from them saying they were having problems due to a huge demand and would 'upgrade' my delivery to next day courier service and that my order would be with me Monday 17th.

I'm still waiting. And waiting for a reply to yesterday's enote.

Have found two numbers related to ebuyer, an administration one (not at same address) which is 0114 2096033 and a fax number 0870 467 5001.

Pants!

Finally

...my CDs arrived today (24th) January so not too bad. Still, no reply to my eNote or anything. Doubt I'll be eBuying again.

If I were you I would send another enote, slightly miffed but polite asking for your postage to be refunded, as it was out of any timescale they gave you.

Remember in all this, there is no reason for them to be that late. They should have checked they had the stock before they processed your order.

Just to bring readers uptodate with the type of service that can be given by Ebuyer.

Some two & a half years ago, I purchased a retail packed Athlon 1800+ XP together with a H/S & fan as one item for £74 from Ebuyer.
A three year warranty was given, I assume as part of a special offer by AMD.

The weekend before last the CPU died, and so I requested a RMA from Ebuyer with the quiet expectation of them suggesting I pursue AMD for a claim under the warranty.

Anyway, here’s how the claim panned out:-

Sunday 6h February, Raised an Enote with Ebuyer asking how I should pursue a claim under the three year warranty.

Tuesday 8th, Ebuyer reply telling me to request a normal RMA, which I duly did.

Wednesday 9th, Ebuyer issue RMA.

Thursday 10th, CPU is dispatched to Ebuyer (I didn’t include the H/S & Fan and I inform them I don’t mind if they credit my account or replace the CPU)

Friday 11th, Ebuyer note the package as being received.

Tuesday 15th, Ebuyer send me an email informing me they agree the CPU is dead and have therefore credited my account with the full purchase value of £74.

Not bad going at all, so well done Ebuyer for such a swift service.
