Does anyone know how short code messages work?
Somehow, I *think* I have replied to a message with STOP (or equivalent) on 22 Sep 23. I think the STOP was processed incorrectly and stopped Amazon messages by mistake. Since the date messages from Amazon (that ask if it is me that has logged on in location X) are not received. The message I replied to was not from Amazon – why would I stop warning messages as detailed above.
To reset my Amazon account, I deleted my mobile from my Amazon account and but cannot re-add – I cannot receive my OTP to verify my number. Amazon says they receive a response to say “I have opted out of SMS” and this started on 22 Sep.
I have found https://www.short-codes.com/ and it looks like 3rd party SMS providers may be involved. Perhaps there is a national database that needs resetting?
It is only my mobile number that doesn’t work with Amazon. OTP from other providers or providing a different (temp PAYG) mobile on my Amazon works.
Suggestions very welcome.
Thank you.
