Should I stay on o2 or go back to EE?

Where do you struggle in Telford / Shropshire where other networks do better?

I'm genuinely curious as I have moved to EE only and right now it works ok, apart from in my work office, but that's what WiFi is for :)
Halesfield, it has been up and down all week. I have gone into great detail with EE regarding this and had differing responses. It's a landlord issue, it's a fiber issue. We can't access the mast. Just build a new one like Three have. Strangely enough it does not impact O2 and VF so maybe they are microwave fed?

Since Monday zero to little data throughput, phone calls will not place.

Even the vending machines are down at work.

I can use wifi in the building but the mast covers a large area. It is their only mast unlike O2, VF and Three. If I venture outside on EE, no data flow.

There was a chap in the petrol station yesterday saying EE are really winding me up around here, I can't even check my banking app.

They need to take ownership and sort it. It has been going on since 2017 to my knowledge.

Oh right i see, I don't go around that part of town very often, but that must be very frustrating!

It looks like the mast has loads of bands on it, so you'd think based on spec it would be able to deal with an industrial area like Halesfield, crazy they've left it so long with issues.

Mind you, I visit Market Drayton on a regular basis and they have what appears a saturation issue on their Band 20, if you're on 5G or any of the other 4G bands it is fine, Band 20 is ether really slow at 1 or 2mbps or not working at all.

Also, in the trench lock area when you come down the EP from Wombridge interchange, there is the mast on the left, lately if you're on 5G you can't get any data, you have to switch to 4G to get data to work, happens to me on EE and my other half on Spusu. I reported it to EE and they said there is no fault, it has only started in the last few weeks.

The more I write this the more I am now thinking of getting a 2nd SIM again :D

It is a major site, with all MNO's on it but it only seems to be EE that goes down.

I wrote a snottogram to the complaints team and had a call from a very apologetic lady from Sunderland basically saying there are pages of faults for that mast and ' I think we should look at a new site'.

That was back in 2021.

It is what stops me moving my main sim back to EE.

Crazy really, EE are normally ok at fixing faults, so not great they've left this issue going on for so long!

Sky Mobile:

Runs off O2 as a data pipe, has VoLTE, VoWiFi, Visual Voicemail and is currently:
40GB data plan for just £12 a month or 100GB data plan for £18 a month

Better value Uswitch O2 plans out there.

It would mean a PAC out and PAC in though, unlike Sky.

A site was down for a month on EE with no explanation whatsoever (and I don't know what would be the issues with it, since I'm not an EE customer)

O2 and Vodafone has worked fine on that site the entire time

Not worth it, just go to O2 directly honestly (if you don't care about customer service)

I'm sure they had 250GB for £18/month on uSwitch and I'm sure O2 could give you a decent bit of data at a lower price range for less than that

£2.50 for unlimited calls and texts is back, then you can use another network for data.

I believe you can, as long as you pass the required credit checks etc.
I actually switched to EE broadband this week (waiting for install). I moved to a 30day essential sim unlimited (33 - 20 -> 13). Capped at 100 MBps -- My understanding was that the £10 plan is capped at 10 Mbps, and that roaming is +3.

Maybe the offers are customer specific...

On EE -- at least around the Brighton/south east, EE wins for sure. It's not perfect though. I did visit Scotland including highlands and was surprised how well EE did.

Further West Vodafone may become an option.

I decide to get the £28 all rounder plan with EE was tempted to get the cheaper £23 unlimited max plan with them but I thought the roaming would come handy so id rather pay a little bit more😊

The best offer o2 could to for me was £25 for unlimited and there's no way I am paying that amount when I can get better services on EE...
Absolutely. EE is a no brainer here

No wonder they’re shedding contract customers if they’re calling up and being offered ‘deals’ like that.

will the Three network improve if they merge with Vodafone?
Vodafone don't have tons of 5G Themselves, and their data speeds are fairly slow on average from what I have seen. Three's network is quite congested in places too. If they aren't careful with how they proceed and just try to save costs as much as possible you're just going to end up having them dragging each other downhill.

If they are smart with the merger then yes it could lead to some really good things happening that makes one bigger network that can really start breathing down EE's neck and fight for the number 1 position.

It could go either way at the moment. We've seen T-Mobile and Orange's merger into EE lead them to be the UK's best network. But we have also seen O2 merge with Virgin Media and watched them absolutely destroy the network with congestion after bringing on way too many extra customers and make it totally unusable in certain locations.

When Vodafone set about the cheap data plans and make the data leaches unwelcome, yes.

The mast estate will be adjusted like it was on Orange and T-Mobile after the merger. Duplicate sites will be turned off.
