Show off your deals - megathread

As posted in the other thread.

£9 for 16gb on EE, 100mbps cap, 12 months with stay connected data.

Was previously paying £14 for 25gb, uncapped.

Average usage is 500mb.

Edit:
This is the 1gb plan for £20 with loyalty discounts and extra data added
That’s not a competitive deal at all.

Better vfm on 1p mobile and they throw in EU roaming with no speed restrictions.

I disagree. It's a good deal direct from EE, probably not for everyone, but it suits my needs.

1pmobile is an option but, I've never used them, seen instances of the website being down for hours/days at a time, no idea what their support is like.

I don't travel abroad so I have no use for EU roaming.

1p is the closest you’ll get to being on EE. You get full network services, no speed restrictions. Support I never had to speak to, it was faultless. It’s worth noting, no mid contract rises like on EE.

If you’re happy with that from EE then fair enough. I have read / heard of retentions matching 1p and throwing the roaming in. Looking across the market, £9 rising to £10 in March for 16gb is poor.

A colleague got 40gb with EU roaming for £9 a few weeks back via retentions. I have seen others mention the same on here. To get them to listen, you do have to request your PAC and wait for the outbound / retentions team to call though.

I'm aware that 1p is the closest I'd get, but I've not dealt with their support, or know of anyone who has. So it could be a mixed bag.

Looking across what market? Again, you need to factor in that this deal is direct with EE and there's no easy way of getting 16gb for £9 from them.

I'd seen the 40gb for £9 thrown about on here, that's what made me enquire. Like I mentioned earlier. I've no need or requirement for EU data, I'm not planning on going abroad in the next 12 months. My average monthly data usage is 501mb!, so I don't need 40gb.

It feels like it's that whole argument again of my networks better than yours, 'O2/3/VF is poor for me etc' but it's not poor for everyone, it's the same with deals. Not everybody needs what you have or could get.

I'm happy dealing direct with EE, I've reduced my monthly cost by about £5 (my existing plan would have gone over the £15 mark in April), I've plenty of data. It's a win in my eyes 🤷

Sorry if I touched a nerve, I just wanted to confirm it was a poor deal compared to what I have seen others get for the same money and compared to other networks, it’s really poor.

I used EU data as an example because EE charge for it now and have removed it from 90% of their plans. They throw it in as a sweetener which new customers cannot get.

It seems you didn’t push them and ask for the PAC, which would have unlocked more leverage at EE.

As long as you’re happy with it, that’s all that counts.

1 GB costs only £3 on 1p.

I could have spent £1 more and gone for the 30gb plan. I just don't need all that data.

The networks are all much of a muchness these days. I was in a place the other night, an event in a rural area where the signal wasn't great to start with, and couldn't get any throughput on a weak Vodafone signal. I switched to my EE (1p) SIM and also had a weak signal and couldn't get any throughput.

If one network is rubbish in an area, chances are the others will also be a bit questionable - I just don't see the point in "my network is better than yours" stuff, everyone should just choose the network that meets their needs in terms of signal where they live, work, travel etc and budget.

That's what I'm trying to say about deals too. Everyone's usage is different.

Just because someone can get 40gb with EU roaming for £9, doesn't mean everyone wants it, or, needs that.

I have to disagree with you @MissTuned ; several areas that I frequent have one or two strong networks and a couple of poor ones.

You have said :-

"If one network is rubbish in an area, chances are the others will also be a bit questionable".

I respect your right to an opinion but I think that particular statement is highly irregular. :)

I ordered a Scancom EE ultd data sim from Amazon in October 2023 (£205), expire date April 2025.
A couple days after delivery I called Scancom to remove Adult filter, which they said would be removed in 1 day, never happened.
After a week I went onto Amazon chat and explained I wanted to cancel the sim due to non removal of filter, Amazon refunded the money.
About a month later I put the sim into my phone to see if there was any life in it, low and behold it worked, I put it into a Sercomm router and it`s worked perfectly ever since.
Total cost £0.
