I shared my speed test results with the simcom 8202g in the EE speed tests section
but i'll update yous here as well
So I just got my Simcom 8202g 5G modem set up the other day on my mikrotik rbm33g
It did work right away with the 7.11 version I had installed
You do have to run the AT Command "AT+CUSBCFG=usbid,1e0e,901e"
which is shown on Mikrotiks site here
help.mikrotik.com
The at command does also need to be entered with interface information etc so what you need to enter is
/interface lte at-chat lte1 input="AT+CUSBCFG=usbid,1e0e,901e"
if the modem is "lte1" in your interface list which is will be if it's the only modem you have on your routerboard
To enable the 5G option though I did have to update to RouterOS 7.15.2
the release notes didn't mention a specfic fix to the Simcom 8202g but one of the release notes from a different version did mention Simcom but for different reasons
Etherway I figured I may as well update since support was only added on 7.11 which was what I was on and they're may have been some improvements
When on 7.11 and trying to enable the 5G check mark i was getting a error of GSM something something something error 6
The only check boxes that showed up on version 7.11 was 3G 4G 5G but not 2G GSM
on 7.12 which I had to update to first before moving to 7.15 2G still didn't show up and the same error message.
I tried on all version 7.11 7.12 7.15 turning off and on 1 at a time and always leaving 3G off didn't work.
but on 7.15.2 2G showed up and I was able to turn it off along with 3G, At first when enabling 5G it gave me the same message about GSM.
but then the 2nd time it worked and then enabled.
Also tried turning off 4G and going with 5G SA which the modem is supposed to support.
It gives me a error message stating that 5G NSA needs 4G to be enabled which is true.
There is AT commands to force 2G 3G 4G 5G SA and 5G NSA only but I haven't messed with them
Maybe it'll go automatically with 5G SA if it picks it up when 5G is enabled and you'll have to use the AT command to force it to stay on NSA if preferred?
