Singel access dial up number

Bures

Top Member
Since changing to the new dial up Number (0808 99 333 56) I now seem to run into busy tones and consequently no access mid evening.
No problems on the old number.
Also my modem occasionally drops out mid call for no apparent reason.
Is it me or has anyone elso noticed this problem ?

Hi,

You may notice the occasional busy tone with the new number but it shouldn't prevent you from getting online within a few attempts. The contention on the new number is currently 6:1 in the evenings which is far better than advertised.

You probably noticed the difference more because we have been running a much lower contention for the past 4 months which has meant less busy signals.

I'm not sure why your modem would drop the calls - you should contact our support team with more details on this as it could be a number of problems.

Busy tone

Things are definately getting worse with busy tone.
Sat pm -busy, busy
Sun eve - busy, busy.
Tonight 1801 busy, numerous attempts to connect
Tonight 1825 busy - 14 attempts to connect
Tonight 1735 busy - 17 attempts to connect

I never had this trouble with the old number.
Every night, I now get busy tones.

Hi,

I'm going to correct this later today. We have two unmetered access numbers but only one is being used to maximum effect. I'll be sending an email to all customers giving details for our alternative number.

I'm hoping that those people troubled by busy signals will switch to the second number. This is just a load balancing issue that should correct itself within a few days.

Regards,
