Sky have now exclusively released the new FW for the White V1 Netgear Router to SkyUser Members / Guests for download and it will also appear on their website over the next few days.

If you do not feel comfortable following this procedure, please refrain from attempting to upgrade your router's FW. Sky will upgrade your router over the next few weeks anyway. This is for the benefit of the more technical members / guests.

Please follow these instructions for upgrading your Firmware. Also note that this firmware only applies to the White Netgear V1 Router, and will not work on any other Sky Router.

Thanks for the firmware, I finally got around to installing it.

The DS attenuation it reports has dropped slightly, and my detailed stats show an increase in CRC errors :( - although I suppose that could be my line playing up again.

It definitely doesn't perform as well as my dg834n did.

Hows it performing?

It seems as if the majority are having no issues and it is performing better, however there are a few odd reports that it is actually worse.

Sync rate's about the same as previously, I was getting 100's of HEC / CRC errors, but it seems to have settled down now.

Latest 15 minutes time = 4 min 4 sec
SF = 14396
CRC = 0
LOS = 0
LOF = 0
ES = 0
Previous 15 minutes time = 15 min 0 sec
SF = 52923
CRC = 0
LOS = 0
LOF = 0
ES = 0

I'm surprised they didn't fix the shell issue.

Priority was a working FW that solved problems for the majority.

afaik the next update will address the GUI etc

One difference I've notice in the list of running processes is that they've got rid of reAIM -the instant messenger proxy.

I've updated my stats page to get some of the tweaks that were broken by the new firmware working again. ("ping 1" was aborting with an error, so I've changed it back to ping 127.0.0.1).

I haven't tested all of them yet and need to sort a problem with some of them with firefox, especially the Linux version, if I can.
