You should be able to record straight away, contact Sky.

BTW This section is about BB via Satellite, not Satellite TV.;)

lol indeed, usually the Sky+ functionalitys are only disabled if you cancel your Sky+ subscription and obviously 1st July etc...

Maybe he should head on over to Digital Spy...

maybe he purchased it 2nd hand or not from sky ?

Either way you will still need to contact sky to get the + function enabled to your account/card otherwise it will never come online.

You will still need to pay Sky £10 a month to use Sky+ facilities, even after July 1st, it is only free to subscribers, which actually means it aint " Free " at all, but then nobody actually thought that Sky would be giving something away did they..:laugh:

Hi ive got sky i just got rid of my old sky box and brought a new sky+ box on ebay Inactive you right you have to pay £10 pm to use sky + But i thought from 1st JULY ITS FREE

I thought exactly the same as you, almost bought a Sky+ Box myself, then discovered that the so called " Free " means that existing subscribers will no longer be charged an additional £10 for using the Sky+ features.

Still have to sign up to Sky and still have to pay a minimum £10 per month I am afraid, indeed, you have to sign up for the minimum £15 per month package, but you can then cancel it to bring it down to £10 a month after 1st July.

Sky give nothing away for free, i'm afraid.

Er, Sky+ is available for "free" (no extra charge) with new or existing Sky digital TV subscriptions. If you cancel your subscription, you would then have to pay the £10 a month just for sky+ or the sky+ features will be disabled. :crap:

Apparently they also have some special refer a friend offer where they are giving away a sky+ box instead of M&S vouchers see:- http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?p=636302

I think you may need a dual/quad LBN fitted to make full use of the + box.

I thought about getting a box, but I think I'd rather spend the money on a dual record freeview box.

i was speaking to a sky installer a few months ago who said sky were thinking about making the sky+ box the standard in straight competition with virgin media whoes v box comes with harddrive recording as standard and that the £10 per month fee would be scraped........

the £10 fee was dropped last year for customers on the top 2 packages with sky sports or sky movies.

Well cheapest package that exists is the £15 one and yeah you can get the Sky+ STB with it and pay only £15 per month from 1st July.
