Since moving away from Biscit I have moved to Plusnet, this has been fine for a while. However over the past week I have found that skype is very bad at the moment. We have a second line with BT and this works fine. Has anyone else had a similar problem lately ?

Have upgraded to skype 3? silly question I know but had a problem with skype the other day and soon as I upgraded it has been o.k?:)

you have to remember that skype uses relays so that could be part of the problem and also if your connection is dodgy then skype will be also on another note system resources can be cause of problems depending on how thin your system is spread, by no means does the telephone line come into this since Skype uses an internet connection means the content of a conversation is transfered as data rather than normal telephone calls.

Hi Timeless

Yes appreciated, I should have been a bit clearer, the second line refers to a second ADSL line with BT. If I use this connection the results are much clearer and cleaner.

Problem is this rules out system resources as it's the same PC and network equipment.

hmm, in that case the problem is related to the connection itself, sometimes on the main window on the caller display window there are notifications of call quality and what can be done to help... also try port forwarding to help with calling quality altho l doubt this is where the problem lies since the ISP network has more of a role to play when concerned with actual Skypeing

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you've had some problems with Skype. Can you let me know if you're still experiencing difficulties. I don't use Skype myself, but my parents do on their PlusNet connection and haven't reported any change in quality.

What product are you on? And i assume you're not being managed?

Thanks,
Liam

Thanks for the posting, it must have been a network / Internet traffic issue as it seems to be back to normal now. It lasted a good week or so but now seems to be working fine.

Thanks
