Slice Mobile from Giffgaff's founder

Giffgaff founder Gav Thompson splits with start-up Slice Mobile

Slice Mobile says relationships with Lucky Generals and Wavemaker are unaffected by the news.

He continues to be listed as their sole and current director with Companies House.

If he could come back and explain what "non-conventional mobile network based on blockchain technology" means/meant, that would be great. LOL!

"Alongside the executive departures, The Telegraph has learned that Lycamobile has also parted ways with the founder of Slice Mobile, a planned new mobile network solely backed by Lyca.

Gav Thompson, who previously founded Giffgaff, is understood to have left following a disagreement over funding, putting the future of the venture at risk.

Lycamobile said it was still fully committed to Slice Mobile. Mr Thompson declined to comment."

Well that should set some alarm bells ringing.

I think there's rather a lot of users here very wary of anything to do with Lyca going forward.

Some more context here is that they quit on the 5th July, one day after the Tory party they donated to lost the general election

Has anyone joined them? I just got an email saying I could now get a SIM so I signed up to the trial.

Thought I would give Slice a go on the free trial today. IP range is same as Lyca and the latency is horrible.
So we're not missing too much then Paul G?

No WiFi calling and no band 20... Gave in once I saw a Lyca IP and deleted the esim.
Yes very wise I think when you see the Lyca name, anyway, thank you for being brave and sharing. (y)

Lets hope they haven't managed to harvest my details. I used Apple Pay and Hide my Email so hopefully safe.
I’ve done the same. It seems like when roaming they only allow calls back to the UK. Trying to call any other country in the EU results in a message saying “no routes found”, with routes pronounced the American way.
