Slow connection (3G) while roaming with Smarty in Ireland

Was wondering if anyone has noticed that 4G doesn't seem to connect when roaming in Ireland and always bumps you off 4G and down to 3G? When I manually select 3 IRL (4G) the phone seems to briefly display 4G before dropping down to 3G when you try to use some data.

I have tried this in couple of different phones and also a friend lent me 3 IRL sim at the same location which can easily get on the 4G network, with decent speeds as well!

Are Smarty limiting the roaming availability some-way? Or is the roaming agreement with 3 IRL 3G only?

EDIT: On my mikrotik router I am seeing two operator codes for 3 IRL, 27205 (4G Only) and 27202 (GSM + 3G)
