Slow speeds with Huawei CPE Pro 2 & Smarty sim

Hi there,

Having a lot of trouble with a Huawei 5G router I bought a few months ago.

I'm on Smarty (Three), and since I got it my speeds have been going up and down. I was able to get around 200-250 down, but recently it's dropped right down to 10-15. I've tried restarting the router several times, I've had a little go at using LTE H-Monitor (which I'm not really sure how to use), but the d/l speed seems to be stuck now at around 10-15.

Is anyone else having problems with their Smarty sim, or is it just me? Would love some advice!

Thanks

Maybe some problem with 3 - i have experienced the speeds have drastically come down and today it has been unusable since 10:45am

What do you in that case? Is there any way of checking that the signal is degraded, using cellmapper for instance?

Can you attribute the fast / slow speeds to different bands? This would allow you to eliminate the slow band using band selection.

I have the same router and when connected to Smarty I use HuaCtrl Pro app to set my router to Band 28 as this forces 5G and gives me the fastest speed for my area.

Thanks for the reply barryc808. I've just paid for and installed the HuaCtrl app, but struggling to get it working. I've input my user/password and ip for my router, but how do I know I'm connected?

Also, this is a Three branded router, the H122-373. I've read on this forum that this router is cell locked. Is that true? Would the HuaCtrl app override that?

You'll know it's connected if all the signal readings are live and active on the main screen.

HuaCtrl won't be able to lock you to a specific cell tower but you can select the best band(s) for your area.

Cell Mapper should help you establish what bands are available around you. If you tap the Cell button at the top of HuaCtrl if will tell you which cell tower you are connected to.

Thanks, that actually seems to have done it. I've now managed to connect to a different tower and my speeds are back to normal!

I can't get HuaCtrl to work still, it's not connecting (in the top right corner I'm getting an exclation mark instead of the signal bar) but I was fiddling with LTE Monitor as well, one of them seems to have done it.

Can I just ask - what's the difference between upload and download band? In LTE Monitor I only seem to get 1 option for up, but lots for down.

Double check your login / password / router IP and hit 'Save'

I haven't used LTE Monitor in a long time so someone else will need to help you with that. When setting the bands in HuaCtrl the settings are saved even when the router restarts. Can anyone clarify if this is also the case with LTE Monitor?

Smarty signal in CM19 has been poo all day so far. A continuous solid red light on the network indicator on my ZTE. Not a happy bunny. Supposedly congestion on the network and their engineers are working to fix it.

With Huactrl Pro, it doesn't look like I'm logged in (I don't get any data on the main page), but on the SMS page, my SMSs are there, so it must be logged in. Very strange. Anyone else having this problem? I know it got updated recently

Speeds are back to normal now, and holding. But I've noticed that I'm constantly jumping between two masts. Is that normal or something I should try and avoid?

Same problem. Same modem. But direct with three not smarty. Of course three say oh well nothing is wrong our end... yeah right.
