Slow upload speeds in Southampton

Is anyone in Southampton that is on Toob and use an Ethernet cable between a PC and their router? If so can you do a test on speedtest.net to Toob London server and see what results you get?

Apparently Toob say they have a network issue affecting upload, so curious if that's true and how widespread that is.

SO19 Sholing area.

Had an engineer out this afternoon and tested up the pole, right into the house and the fibre itself is fine. He was about to change the ONT when their office said there's a network issue they're working on, apparently. I know my mum who is in Woolston doesn't seem to be affected, but wondered who else is...

Yeah, having the same issue Thornhill SO19

Well I suppose it's good to know that it's not just me.... That said, their office couldn't give an ETA for a fix either! Might be worth complaining to Toob, so they realise the scope of the issue. More voices might = quicker resolution.

This may already be resolved for you but I've just tested in Bitterne SO18 and am getting 900 up/down. I'd assume we're connected to the same PoP at Whites Car Park.

Just checked, 310mbit up this morning. They either have a different PoP for Sholing & Thornhill, or maybe a rogue modem causing localised interference?

Very odd. I'm not sure about the rogue modem theory bearing in mind it's fibre all the way to your home - the interference if there was any would have to be at the PoP. Just done another test this eve

Bitterne SO18, ~930 down & ~350 up still. Don't have ETA but toob will let me know what it's fixed.

Well at least you've complained to them as well. I reported this to them on Sat 28th October, so they're certainly taking their sweet time over it.

Oooooh... something has changed this evening. The upload speed is the same, but the download speed has dropped BIG TIME and there's something up on the Toob network.

I'm running a thinkbroadband monitor on my connection and Mums (hers had no upload speed issue, but download for hers has dropped!).

Just tested Mum's speed:

A marginally better speed test result for me this morning in SO18  . Out of interest are you guys using the provided-Toob routers? I'm using an opnsense device here and my Mum/Dad both have ASUS devices in SO16 and we're all getting max results. I'm wondering if its a kit/firmware update issue?

Both mum and I are using the Toob provided ONT Modem & Black Toob Sagemcom router. Both mum and I are on static IPs, not CG-NAT. Given her upload is not affected but mine is, I don't think it's router firmware related. Both routers are running the same software version and GUI version. I'ts something going on within part of their network!

I'm using pfSense as router with Intel network cards and static IP. I joked saying one of their fibre transceivers needed replacing. I guess it depends on location, hardware and connectivity.

I got an email today saying -

"Our network team have now identified the issue and are working on a resolution, we hope this will be in place within the next couple of days. We'll provide further updates if this timeline changes and will notify you once it has been rolled out."

Had the same email today! At least they're communicating with us. You're probably right there. At least the fault is a fairly graceful speed reduction rather than total loss of service.

I'm due to get pfsense installed on a connection, anything particularly re the IPV6 info? I asked Toob, but they just said their one box solution does everything it needs. I felt like replying with I'll not bother with IPV6 and make sure it goes via CGNAT lol as they'll be keen for as much IPV6 traffic as poss.

There isn't anything extra being hosted, it's purely that I'd prefer a pfsense device / Sophos XG Home device than a ISP supplied router. WIFI will be handled by separate APs etc.

I'm personally still stuck with Virgin for now.

I used prefix of 0 / default and IPv6 is working. ping bbc.co.uk shows IPv6.
Just remember to tick 'Allow IPv6' on system -> advanced -> networking

Happy days! Phone call from Toob this morning. Looks like they've fixed the issue. Normal service has resumed! :)

Got email saying -

we believe the issue is resolved
Hello,

We understand the issue affecting your upload speeds has now been resolved. Please could you reboot both the router and the fibre box, give it a minimum of 5 minutes and then run a wired speed test to check the service.

Had the same issue as this in Hightown SO19 6, I noticed it around 22nd October, I think they did some maintenance overnight because we had some down time around that time.

They actually sent an engineer to my house as they believed the ONT was faulty, to be fair to them they emailed updates a couple of times each week with updates, when it was fixed they called me and asked me to check.
