I have been playing a lot with CSS3 and HTML5 web design stuff today, had fun with it too. It's now so easy to do things that would have previously required a lot of JavaScript and complicated CSS1/2, which would most likely also end up breaking compatibility. Anyway this is all for the future.
In the meantime, because it was easy and doesn't affect compatibility, I have added a few extremely simple CSS3 style tweaks to news items. Some images will now enlarge - in a sexy kind of way - when you hover over them and in the future we will make more use of mild text shadowing too. Just took a tiny mod to add.
I didn't want to get carried away because it's all too easy to break the flow of information by over-cooking effects. Sadly Microsoft's IE8 doesn't give a hoot about CSS3 so only users of more modern and better web browsers will get the benefit.
