Small CSS3 Treats for Chrome, Opera, Safari and Firefox Browsers

I have been playing a lot with CSS3 and HTML5 web design stuff today, had fun with it too. It's now so easy to do things that would have previously required a lot of JavaScript and complicated CSS1/2, which would most likely also end up breaking compatibility. Anyway this is all for the future.

In the meantime, because it was easy and doesn't affect compatibility, I have added a few extremely simple CSS3 style tweaks to news items. Some images will now enlarge - in a sexy kind of way - when you hover over them and in the future we will make more use of mild text shadowing too. Just took a tiny mod to add.

I didn't want to get carried away because it's all too easy to break the flow of information by over-cooking effects. Sadly Microsoft's IE8 doesn't give a hoot about CSS3 so only users of more modern and better web browsers will get the benefit.

:hrmph: I hate things on web pages that move. :(
Especially when (having waved the cursor around on the front page) I find that a useless Virgin Media logo pops up larger, but a chart of international internet speeds (which could do with being a little larger really, I had to move six inches nearer the screen to read it) stays the same darned size! :crap:

Wanders off to "about:config" to see if I can spot how to cripple this gimmick... ;)

Corrected the title to just 'Safari' ;) , although you do need 4+ to see them.

I have softened the news article thumbnail effect so it only changes by a small margin. In any case it doesn't impede the text and so shouldn't be a problem.

Just playing for now and I can't add such effects to all images or it would distort other parts of ISPreview. I like the idea of using it to magnify content though and will investigate a more 'optional' solution for that.

Works well in both Opera and ChromePlus browsers.

Oh YES! Very 21st Century-ish; An improvement in my view.

Works well in both Opera and ChromePlus browsers.
