Small FTTP Broadband companies

We are all happy to hear FTTP rollout is in full steam.

Only one problem we might have is if you live in an area and your hearing of a broadband company that is deploying FTTP in the area a Broadband company you never heard of or its a new Broadband company How likely are you to go with them even if you dont have City Fibre or Openreach infrastructure are you willing to wait for a well known broadband company to come along like Virgin Media 02, Hyperoptic etc...

Cause problem with small broadband companies is customer base if they have enough customers signing up that's fine but you mighy be worried hw reliable are they price etc..

Small Broadband companies focus in mainly where Openreach FTTP is not available.

How long can these small broadband last cause when Openreach or Cityfibre pop up as they wholesale to other broadband or other companies offers will come in if you see a cheaper offer your more likely to move when your contract ends.

That means big trouble for small Broadband companies they loose customers then might go into liquidation.

Mainy FTTP playing in the Game are Openreach, Cityfibre, Virgin, Hyperoptic.

Regards to Hyperoptic they are slowly expanding outside London

Community Fibre is London only

G Network seems to be London only at the moment dont know if they have plans to expand outside London.

There is a crap load of altnets building FTTP right now, about 40-50% of them have credible long-term plans, while the others are much more uncertain or tentative in their future prospects.

But if one of those came along, then I'd absolutely still sign-up as almost anything is better than this FTTC line. I might have to think a bit harder if it was one of those ISPs that locks down your router to an extreme level, as that would stunt my work, but that's a different matter. Crucially, if the ISP went bust, then there's a very good chance somebody would buy their FTTP infrastructure (once in the ground it has a lot of value as an asset) and take-over the service, but even if not then I'd just end up back on FTTC. Not a big risk IMO.

Your right if the ISP went bust, then there's a very good chance somebody would buy their FTTP infrastructure (once in the ground it has a lot of value as an asset) and take-over the service.

I remember the flurry of dial up ISP's that started up when the internet first became a thing. Lots went bust but the game rolled on and the best ones carried on, once the fibre network is in place then if they go bust it will be bought.
