Oh this is exciting as surprisingly my local council is part of the trial.😯

The Six Trial Authorities

Cambridgeshire County Council (£220,000)
Tees Valley Combined Authority (£202,500)
Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (£245,700)
Westminster City Council (£165,000)
Oxfordshire County Council (£250,000)
North Ayrshire Council (£242,765) 🥳

Will have to start looking for new 5G street lights now. 😊

Hi Bear, have I got this right, is this where they put a mini 5G transmitter to a lamp post? If it is they can stick one to the lamp post right outside my house !

I still say that having a small 5G cell on the roof of a typical bus stop shelter is a far better use than sticking them on the street lights especially the ones with heavy footfall.

That way, the local authority can install live bus running information screens which using Birmingham as a example will have the route number, a count down to it's arrival and what time it's meant to be there eg Citi 3 06:08 Due 5 mins or simply just have it display Citi 3 Due 3 minutes etc

Seeing as most operators now don't bother with timetable posters half the time, to have a CIS screen would be more beneficial as a lot of the buses those days are fitted with a tracker eg in my area though their own websites/apps I can track Grant Palmer, Centrebus and Arriva buses but not everyone will have a smartphone hence why the local authorities above shouldn't bother with lamp posts but rather ensure that they fit them to the local bus stops instead which has the added benefit of providing real time information to passengers.

Putting them on lamp posts is simply the wrong way to go forward in my view and should be avoided at all costs.

Like wise, I have a nicely positioned one available too.
Not sure where the EV charger would go though.😁
