I am currently using a Smarty sim in a router for my internet and almost daily the internet will stop dead. According to the router info and Huactrl app the data / network connection is still present, with good signal, but all traffic stops and downloads will freeze. I don't think I've had an uninterrupted connection for more than 40 hours.
I am aware of people having issues with Three and pages hanging but this doesn't just happen for a few seconds, the other day I left the stalled connection for an hour and nothing was corrected automatically.
To remedy this I just hit the Reconnect button in Huactrl and everything fires up again. I notice larger downloads (+1GB) tend to trigger this problem although it does happen mostly at random. Could it be overzealous traffic management?
I also understand that my local mast is very congested, the network status has been "We’re fixing an issue with our network in this area" for years. I'm not in a 5G area but randomly the other day my router connected to a weak 5G mast, I downloaded a 10GB file and speeds were respectable but 7GB in the cell id changed back to my local mast and a few minutes later the connection stalled with about 500MB to go .
I've also tried tinkering around with the APN trying IPv4 and IPv4/IPv6 variants of Smarty and Three settings with Cloudflare DNS, none of which sorted the issue, although I understand Smarty ignores the APN anyway.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Would using WARP or a VPN be a solution in this case or does that only sort out the temporary hanging issue?
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
